A Fargo man will appear today in court after a disabled woman accused him of raping her at knifepoint and forcing her to smoke crack cocaine.
Fred Wilson Jr., 38, 115 1/2 N. Broadway, was arrested Tuesday and charged with gross sexual imposition, kidnapping, terrorizing and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The felony charges come after an incident in May, when a woman called the police while locked inside a community bathroom in Wilson’s apartment building and claimed she was raped.
The victim, who suffers from physical disabilities and is unable to walk without a walker, told police she was threatened with a pocket knife and a fillet knife before Wilson forced her to have sex with him.
Police questioned Wilson inside his apartment May 24. He told officers the woman is a prostitute whom he has paid to have sex with several times prior to the incident. He also denied that a black pipe found in the apartment belonged to him.
A knife was still on the nightstand by the bed, and a kitchen fillet knife was found in the pockets of the shorts he had been wearing earlier in the day. Wilson claimed he carried a knife because he had been trying to purchase cocaine and wanted to protect himself.
The victim denied being a prostitute or having sex with Wilson before the incident.
The woman also told police that she and Wilson were introduced by a mutual friend they knew as “Duck” at the Salvation Army. The man brought Wilson to the victim’s apartment at 3 p.m. May 23 and then left to buy the crack cocaine.
Court documents show police believe “Duck” is a homeless Fargo man, whose mug shot was confirmed by the victim.
If convicted, Wilson would face a minimum 20-year prison sentence on the rape charge. The three other charges each carry penalties of up to five years in prison
