LARGO - A 78-year-old mental health counselor from Fort Myers was arrested Monday on charges he traveled to Pinellas County to have sex with 10- and 11-year-old boys, according to arrest affidavits.http://www.nbc-2.com/articles/readarticle.asp?articleid=20554&z=3
The arrest culminates a month-long investigation by Pinellas Sheriff's Crimes Against Children detectives, reports said.
Friedlander thought he was chatting online to an adult who had access to two boys under 12 years old, who would be "made available to Friedlander for alleged sexual abuse," authorities said.
More proof that you can trust no one...and he's an EXPERT.
Fucker.

The sick old Fart was in court this week and it isnt going well for "Charles Friedlander". When he was busted he had three razor strops, a riding crop, a heavy military belt and a wide strap of leather with him, he claims he wasnt going to use them, Yah right !!
Friedlander, 78, a mental health counselor, is charged with driving from his Fort Myers home to meet an undercover Pinellas County Sheriff's detective posing as a father who was going to let Friedlander sexually and physically abuse his 10- and 11-year-old sons.
When being interviewed by the detective, Cpl. Kurt Romanosky, Friedlander said he never planned to go through with it.
He told Romanosky that he had no interest in beating the children while they were stripped, bound and stretched over a chair as he had said in an instant message chat with the detective.
Only about half of the two-hour interview was played to the jury before the trial was recessed for the night. Assistant U.S. Attorney Amanda Kaiser will continue playing the DVD when the trial resumes Wednesday.
Romanosky said he didn't believe Friedlander's explanation. He said that the counselor wouldn't have been so specific in his descriptions if he didn't have urges to follow through.
Friedlander said he only traveled to meet with Romanosky because the detective seemed sincere.
"I had no idea what I was getting into," Friedlander said. Romanosky "seemed so interested …You did a great job."
Friedlander said he was curious about the group of parents Romanosky purported to be a member of that allowed each other to beat and have sex with their children.
"I had never heard or imagined such a group situation," he said during the interview. "I didn't understand it."
Friedlander said he was impotent and had no interest in children. He said he was more attracted to those over age 40.
"I'm not a real child-oriented person," he told Romanosky.
Friedlander had three razor strops, a riding crop, a heavy military belt and a wide strap of leather when he was arrested. In chats with the detective, Friedlander said those were what he wanted to use on the children.
Friedlander maintained he would have never actually used the devices.
"I never acted on anything," he said. "I don't have a sexual interest in anything."
TAMPA - Around the same time a mental health counselor was talking online to an undercover detective in Pinellas County about having sex with the detective's fictional young sons, he was chatting with another undercover detective about having sex with that detective's fictional mentally handicapped daughter, a prosecutor said in court this morning.
Tragos also asked Whittemore to bar the prosecution from using evidence from Friedlander's computer, including photos showing sadomasochistic scenes with adult men and conversations with other adults about sadomasochistic sexual activity.

A federal jury convicted a 78-year-old Fort Myers mental health counselor of using the Internet to arrange to beat and sexually abuse two children.
The U.S. District Court jury in Fort Myers convicted Charles Jackson Friedlander of using a computer to entice children into having sex. Friedlander faces up to life in prison and a $250,000 fine when he’s sentenced on March 16.
Testimony in the seven-day trial showed Friedlander was interested in beating naked children and admitted that he beat his son 45 to 75 times "daily, hard and long" with a razor strap when he was a child and was able to conceal the marks with oil and cream because his son was home schooled.http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2008/dec/16/fort-myers-mental-health-counselor-convicted-using/

That is just...ugh. Nice of the media to report that Friedlander stated that he beat his own son as a child. I doubt the "...45 to 75 times daily..." statement based on the physical harm that would have caused the child. NurseRhonda would know more about that than I. I have to admit, I'm always surprised at how much these fragile little children can withstand.
It's not that I can't understand the attraction of pain and sex together, but the desire to beat young boys for sexual gratification? I just can't figure out WHERE that comes from in the human mind and experience.
