PALM BAY, Fla. -- A Palm Bay Fire-Rescue firefighter faces legal trouble after a law enforcement agency charged him with text-messaging a 13-year-old girl and asking her if she liked to "talk dirty.”
The new charges from West Melbourne police come less than two weeks after Gary Lynn Sebastian was charged June 25 by Palm Bay detectives with having computer pornography, lewd and lascivious conduct, promotion of a sexual performance by a child and child abuse, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.
In the West Melbourne case, police said Sebastian sent a child in their jurisdiction several sex-laced text messages. One of the messages allegedly read, "R U Alone? Can I ask a ? without U calling the cops? Do you like to talk dirty to guys..."
Sebastian, who remains held at the Brevard County Jail in Sharpes on a $200,000 bond, was arrested on July 3 on charges soliciting sexual conduct by a child and transmission to minors with an electronic device.
In the Palm Bay case, detectives said the fire department veteran made contact with his daughter’s 14-year-old friend and wrote her sexually charged text messages. Police said the case was uncovered when Sebastian sent the girl -- then on vacation in Connecticut -- a box packed with cigarettes, cash and a sex toy.
