In August of 2006, Nicholas Grunke, 22, saw a newspaper photo of 20-year-old Laura Tennessen and instantly fell in love. He didn't mind that it was an obituary photo and Laura had been killed the week before in a motorcycle crash.

Being a lusty young stud, his thoughts turned to planning a "date" with the young beauty. He asked his twin brother Alexander and friend Dustin Radke, also 22, for help. Everyone must have thought it was a good idea.

They stopped at Wal-Mart to buy condoms before digging up her grave so they could have sexual intercourse with her corpse. Using shovels to reach her grave, they were unable to pry the concrete vault open. Talk about frustration!!

The wanna-be romeos were scared off when a car drove into the cemetery but were eventually arrested and charged with third-degree attempted sexual assault. A judge and an appeals court had dismissed those charges, saying Wisconsin law does not ban sex with a corpse.

Wednesday, the Wisconsin Supreme Court reinstated the sexual assault charges. The opinion said state law bans sexual intercourse with anyone who does not give consent "whether a victim is dead or alive at the time."

One sick fuck is bad enough... but all 3 of them thought this made sense? They must be so totally weird that no live gals would have anything to do with them.

Possibly they are so stupid they can't tell a living girl from a dead one and thought this chick just lived in a really small house with an unusual security system??

Laura's priest at Saint Charles Catholic Church, said she was the type of person who was always smiling and never judged others.
I think she would have been the type to judge if she knew this would happen to her body after her death.

Nicholas Grunke is the son of ordained Methodist minister.
Imagine that, a ministers son...in this case sons.

This is just so freekin sick i can not even imagine it. I too wanna know WTF were the condoms for?

The thing though that gets me is the laws.
how in heck is it Not illegal to screw a dead body But it is illegal if the dead body does not consent to the sex??
WTF kind of backasswards laws do they have out there?

It's the same law just different interpretations. "Corpses are people too" type thing... The lower court used the context of persons being alive and capable of giving or denying consent. The higher court overturned them saying that the law applies to dead people too. By default, a dead person can't give consent. Higher court wins until an even higher court says otherwise.

I guess they really believed in safe sex.

Maybe they thought it would be obvious her grave was disturbed and condoms would keep the police from obtaining DNA?

Then again, maybe they thought screwing a corpse without a condom was just gross!

well technically hep b can last for up to 3 weeks "outside the body" so i guess that includes on a dead body. tho i doubt these asshats were thinking of that. i would bet on the dna protection or the not wanting to get dead-girl cooties - because both of these reasons are ridiculous considering they were digging up a dead girl to fuck her.

Never saw Nekromantik, eh? Always place a rubber on your cadaver's makeshift steel pipe dick - or on yours... not YOURS- just anyone with a penis, in general.

I've spoken to a necro online many moon ago, on AOL. I was 16 at the time. His name was bandaid101. I guess you could say it was like an interview. His job was disturbing to know of, too. He worked in a funeral home.

edit: Aftermath is a good movie to watch and encourage cremation.

That is disturbingly funny. Now if you excuse me I'm off to blockbuster!

The trial of a man accused of trying to dig up a grave in Cassville to have sex with a dead woman has ended in a mistrial.

Jurors found Alex Grunke, 23, guilty of criminal damage to a cemetery and attempted misdemeanor theft but deadlocked on attempted third-degree sexual assault. Grant County Circuit Court Judge George Curry called a mistrial late Tuesday night.

Assistant District Attorney Tony Pozorski said he will retry the case.

Nicholas Grunke, the one who was actually going to have sex with the corpse, is on trial. The link has all kinds of good coverage. His defense is:

I wasn't going to have sex with the corpse. I'm so pathetically socially awkward that I don't even think about having sex ever, really. I wanted to romance the girl/corpse like in a fairy tale, hold her hand. I wanted to pose her body in a non-sexual way.

He must really trust his lawyer's judgment that he can beat these charges, because admitting to being that much of a geeky virgin in court must be really really embarrassing. If he goes to jail anyway...

But, his pal Dustin Radke testified against him, saying that Grunke wanted to dig up the body to have sex with it, and that he had been talking about necrophilia for years.

Trial continues tomorrow!

I think that the sexual assault charge is a bit much. Especially since they couldn't even get to the body. Perhaps if they'd actually managed to get to the corpse, I'd buy that. It just seems like charging a crime before it happened. These idiots certainly desecrated a grave, and had all kinds of intent to perform some necrophilia (Condoms, boys? Really?), but they failed to get there. If a wanna be rapist tries to break into your house with the intent to rape, but only manages to fuck up your door, I think they'd just get charged with the breaking and entering part, not the rape part.

I'm not a law professional of any kind, so I fully accept that I might be wrong.

These dumbasses are so lucky they didn't succeed. It's one thing to be a stupid asshole who dug up a grave and thought about raping a corpse; it's a whole other level of fucked up to actually be a corpse rapist. I've decided in my little fantasy world that they would have gotten to the body and then chickened out. Then, it's almost like a dark comedy, quirky coming of age movie with Seth Green or something.

I'm sure this totally traumatized the girl's family, and the three of them should suffer punishment for that For myself, though, once I'm dead, I'm not terribly worried about what happens to my body. I'm an organ donor, so I'm not going to leave a very nice corpse. I also want a "green" burial, so after about a week I'd be pretty well mushy and wormy. I think it would be a bit of a turnoff.
