Police on Tuesday arrested a teen they said delivered LSD-laced cookies to at least two police departments.

They said Christian Phillips of Watauga, Texas, made his first delivery on Monday -- stopping by the Blue Mound Police Department to drop off a batch. The 18-year-old said he also planned to deliver cookies to Lake Worth Police Department, police said.

Blue Mound officers said they noticed the cookies smelled of marijuana, so they called Lake Worth to alert them of the pending delivery.

However, Phillips did not show up to his second stop until 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. When he did, Lake Worth officers detained him. They said the cookies also smelled of marijuana and that preliminary tests confirmed they contained the powerful hallucinogenic drug LSD.

Police also said that a Tarrant County Sheriff's dog indicated a positive result for marijuana on the cookies, and Phillips' money and car.

Fort Worth police might also have received a batch of the tainted treats. According to the department, it received a Monday night delivery of cookies and other goodies.

At least three officers, including a sergeant and detective, consumed some of the items, police said.

In response to the incident, the department released this statement: "The department is currently contacting officers who worked the overnight shift who were possibly exposed last night. .... If we are able to confirm the existence of LSD or any other drug or chemical in the tainted food items we will pursue filing charges."

Phillips, who has a prior arrest for assaulting a police officer in Watauga, is a volunteer for Mothers Against Drunk Driving as part of a community service sentence, police said.

He was apparently delivering the cookies on behalf on MADD but it was not clear if he might have tainted the treats or switched out the orginals with the ones laced with drugs.

This strikes me as a very self-destructive thing to do. This kid has to be nuts.

If he is doing community service, then he is still on probation for that assault. Lil fuck has so screwed himself.

So far, all claim they are fine and had this confirmed by Dr. Love, an area physician wearing black-and-white face paint and platform heels. Interviews were cut short by officers' need to chase a rabbit down a rabbit hole.

After 54 hours in the Lake Worth Jail, 18-year-old Christian Phillips was released Thursday when tests revealed no drugs in the cookies he had delivered to Blue Mound and Lake Worth police this week, officials said.

Phillips, of Watauga, was released into the custody of his father about 5:45 p.m. A felony count of tampering with a consumer product was dismissed, and Phillips will not face any other charges, Lake Worth Police Chief Brett McGuire said.

Phillips’ attorney, Patrick Davis of Fort Worth, said: "We are just very disappointed that everyone went and convicted him right away. We are disappointed that no one ever gave him a chance."

No one answered the door at Phillips’ home Thursday night.

Next time he needs to wash his hands before handling the cookies.
