A Fort Yates woman faces charges of child abuse and neglect and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after an officer found her huffing air duster with a 15-year-old girl.
Kathryn Redday, 25, was charged Monday with Class C felony child abuse and neglect and Class Amisdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor
South Central DistrictJudge Donald Jorgensen set bond for Redday at $1,500 cash as recommended by Burleigh County Assistant State's Attorney Pam Nesvig.
Redday also was charged in Bismarck Municipal Court with Class B misdemeanor inhalation of vapors. She pleaded guilty to the charge, and Municipal Judge William Severin sentenced her to five days in jail.
Bismarck Police Sgt. Dwight Offerman said someone reported seeing people in a vehicle at Sertoma Park inhaling vapors at 7:48 p.m. Thursday. A responding officer found Redday and a 15-year-old South Dakota girl high from huffing air duster. Also in the vehicle were Redday's two sons, ages 1 and 3, who were covered in feces, Offerman said.
Officers found 24 cans of air duster in the vehicle, but the police report did not say if the cans were full or empty, Offerman said.
