GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- The body of a 4-year-old girl, who has been dead for over a year, was found in the attic of a Gwinnett County home Friday.
Officials said they received a call Friday from a family member of the victim who said in April 2007, Amy Yesenia moved with her two children from their home on Stillwater Lane in Lawrenceville to Mexico. Yesenia and the family member recently talked on the phone and Yesenia stated one of her children had died of natural causes while the girl was living with them in Gwinnett County, according to the family member.
Yesenia said her husband hid the body in the house before they left for Mexico in 2007 and said her husband didn’t want her to tell anyone the child had died because they would get in trouble.
Gwinnett County authorities found the body of 4-year-old Prisi Vasquez in the attic. Homicide investigators said the autopsy determined the child had been killed.
The girl’s father, Christian Vasquez, 23, was charged Wednesday with his daughter’s death. He is not in custody and police believe he is still in Mexico.
No charges have been filed against Yesenia.
