CLEVELAND — A woman and a toddler are dead following a strange series of events on Cleveland’s east side, where authorities say an argument led to a fatal stabbing that led to a fatal car accident.
Cleveland Police Sgt. Sammy Morris tells Fox 8 News that, according to a preliminary investigation, the incidents occurred at approximately 9:10 p.m. Thursday when two women in a parked vehicle started to argue. Things got heated to the point where one of the women — Kimberly Black, 29, of Cleveland — exited the vehicle, went into her house and returned with a weapon. She then proceeded to cut Sharice Swain, 29, of Cleveland, several times to the face and neck. Black then removed her clothing.
Black’s children, ages 1 and 2, joined their mother outside of the home located in the 3000 block of East 125th Street. Swain, seriously injured, was in the driver’s seat of the vehicle still parked in Black’s driveway. At some point, Swain stepped on the gas pedal, striking the two kids and a house.
The children were transported to Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, where 2-year-old Kimshia Ruffin died. The 1-year-old, Taraji Ruffin, is currently being treated for injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Swain was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where she expired from her injuries.
Black, who fled the scene on foot, was later taken into custody in the area of East 123rd Street and Soika Avenue. After she was apprehended, Black was conveyed to Metro, where she was treated for a hand injury before being placed under arrest. She is now being held in the Central Prison Unit awaiting charges

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A woman has been charged in connection with a bizarre stabbing that left a local woman and a 2-year-old child dead.
Cleveland Police Sgt. Sammy Morris confirmed Saturday that Kimberly Black, 29, was charged with murder, and will appear in Cleveland Municipal Court Monday morning.
Police say the incident started on East 125th Street about 9 p.m. on Thursday.
Witnesses tell Fox 8 News that Black was sitting in the passenger seat of a car driven by Sharice Swain, also 29.
Without warning, Black started stabbing Swain, then got out of the car.

Woman who had been stabbed in the neck struck attacker's child, 2, while trying to drive away - killing herself and the kid
A woman who was stabbed during an argument while in her car, tried to drive away and struck her attacker's two-year-old daughter, killing her and herself.
The toddler's mother - Kimberley Black, 29 - was found naked several blocks away and arrested.
The death of Sharice Swain, 29, of Cleveland, was being investigated as a homicide after witnesses said the two women were arguing in the parked car.
Police say that Black went inside and came out with a weapon, which she used to stab Swain.
Black then removed all her clothes and took her two children, aged one and two, who had also been in the car.
The two year-old, Kimshia Ruffin, was pronounced dead on arrival and her one-year-old sister, Taraji Ruffin - who was also struck - is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The nature of the argument wasn't disclosed, and it wasn't clear if Swain hit the girl intentionally or accidentally.
The attacker apparently had taken off her clothes after the stabbing, authorities said. [...]
neighbor, Nicki Randall, said she took the dying girl into her arms and the child went limp.
'My first instinct was to scoop her up,' Randall told WEWS-TV. 'I saw her eye move, that's what made me pick her up like she's still breathing, like she was.
'But she was bleeding out the eyes, the head, the ears.'
She also described the state of the mother.
'She was butt naked. She was not coherent, she was crazy and she had another baby in her arms.'
Randall said she was ready to drive the child to the hospital when firefighters arrived and took the girl.
It is believed that Swain also died at the scene of the accident.
Black fled the scene on foot but was later arrested and remains in custody.
