View Full Version : Toddler beaten to death on country road. Cops shoot man beating him.

This apparently happened last night as this is all I could find on the story. This is one of the most horrid things I've read. The child will have to be identified through DNA because of his injuries. Several witnesses stopped to intervene and were shoved aside. Cops landed a helicopter in a nearby pasture, officer jumps out and shoots the man.

Police: Officer kills man who beat child to death
53 minutes ago
TURLOCK, Calif. (AP) — Police killed a 27-year-old man as he kicked, punched and stomped a toddler to death despite other people's attempts to stop him on a dark, country road, authorities said.
Investigators on Sunday were trying to establish the relationship between the suspect and the child they say he killed Saturday night. The Stanislaus County coroner said the boy appeared to be between 1 and 2 years old based on his size, according to county sheriff's deputy Royjindar Singh.
"It's been a long night of wondering, 'Why?' — not only for the officers and the passers-by who stopped and tried to help out, but for anyone. Why would somebody do this?" Singh said.
Singh said the coroner does not plan to confirm the identities of the suspect and victim until Monday. Because his injuries were so severe, the child will have to be identified through a blood or DNA test, he said.
The suspect had a child's car seat in the back of his four-door pickup truck. The truck caught the attention of an elderly couple at 10:13 p.m. Saturday because it was stopped in the two-lane road facing the wrong direction, Singh said.
As they got closer, the couple saw the man brutally beating the toddler behind his truck and throwing the child on the ground, according to Singh. Two or three other cars stopped, an unusual number to be passing through the remote area surrounded by a dairy, a cow pasture, a cornfield and a farmhouse, he said.
"What we got from witnesses is he was punching, slapping, kicking, stomping, shaking," Singh said. "They tried to intervene and get involved, but their efforts really didn't have an effect. The suspect was engaged in what he was doing. He just pushed them off and went back to it."
A sheriff's helicopter responding to emergency calls from the area landed in a cow pasture at 10:19 p.m. carrying a Modesto police officer who shot the man to death after he refused an order to stop beating the child, Singh said.
Paramedics tried to resuscitate the toddler, who was not breathing when they arrived. The boy was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No children within the dead boy's age range have been reported kidnapped or missing in Stanislaus County, Singh said.
The incident happened on Bradbury Road about 10 miles west of Turlock, a city located about halfway between Sacramento and Fresno.

Jesus fucking Mary and Joseph Christ!! WTF??? I hope that child died quickly for his sake. Too bad it was such a remote area and there weren't more people passing by. A couple people could have jumped him and someone else could have scoop the kid up and took off with him. I'm glad the bastard is dead but he didn't suffer anywhere near enough IMO. :mad2:

The suspect "had tunnel vision," said Stanislaus County sheriff's deputy Royjindar Singh, a department spokesman. "As people tried to intervene, to tackle him, he just went back to what he was doing. Anything and everything he could do to the baby, that's what he was doing."
...
"The two officers on the helicopter, they were pretty shook up about it," Singh said. "We have to kind of expect this in our line of work. But for people who were just driving home, they weren't prepared for this. They're watching a helpless baby die in front of them and they're trying to intervene, but all their efforts aren't doing anything."
I am horrified just reading it. I cannot begin to imagine what the witnesses and officer feel. I am crying and sick to my stomach beyond what I usually feel about the things we see on here.

I have to wonder that as well... I really hope that at least he didn't kill her too, though for her sake it might be better than living with that. God my heart just aches with this story... I definately hope we get more updates and put this on the front page (hint hint Imp)
I don't feel that the witnesses did enough to be honest. It doesn't take a lot to grab up that child or shield it with your own body. Period. He would've been hard pressed and I probably would've been totally fucked up, had I been on that scene. At least it would have been worth it in the end to try to save that little guys life.
I just don't get it... what? he wasn't happy about his father's day present? Maybe find out the child really wasn't his? *sigh* What a fucking waste of air.... I don't understand what could've set any human off to do that... I honestly don't.

TURLOCK, Calif. -- A man who allegedly beat an infant to death in the middle of a roadway Saturday night was shot and killed by a Modesto tactical flight officer, police said.
Investigators were trying Sunday to establish the relationship between the 27-year-old man and the dead infant.
The Stanislaus County coroner said the boy appeared to be between 1 and 2 years old based on his size, according to county sheriff's deputy Royjindar Singh.
"It's been a long night of wondering why, not only for the officers and the passers-by who stopped and tried to help out, but for anyone. Why would somebody do this?" Singh said.
The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call at 10:15 p.m. from an elderly couple about a man kicking a baby in the head on Bradbury Road near the intersection of Blaker Road, police said.
A helicopter crew was flying above Turlock when the call came in. When officers observed the assault taking place from the air, they decided to perform an emergency landing in a cow pasture near the road, police said.
A Modesto officer exited the helicopter but was unable to reach the road where the assault was allegedly taking place because of an electric fence.
The officer then shot the 27-year-old man who died at the scene, police said.
"With ground officers still several minutes away, they (helicopter crew) landed and intervened in attempt to save a life," Singh said.
The man had a child's car seat in the back of his four-door pickup truck, which caught the attention of the elderly couple because it was stopped in the two-lane road facing the wrong direction, Singh said.
The infant was brought to Emanuel Medical Center and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
The officer was placed on administrative leave, which is standard practice, police said.
The name of the baby boy and man have not been released.

"In the shadows and light it looked like he had hit an animal," said Dan Robinson, the chief of Crows Landing Volunteer Fire Department, who came upon the chaos driving home from a late dinner in Turlock, in an interview with the Modesto Bee. "As we backed up again, I could see that he had blood on his arms. I could see that it was a small child."
Robinson jumped from his vehicle and confronted the man, who lunged at him. Robinson said the man wasn't screaming and wasn't loud, but was forceful, saying "demons" were in the boy.
"Give me the knife. Give me the knife," the man said as he grabbed for a pen in the firefighter's front pocket.
"There was a total hollowness in his eyes," Robinson said, "like I could see right through to the back of his head."
Coroner's deputies believe they know the boy's name, but "due to the severity of his injuries making a visual identification is nearly impossible," Singh said.
Isabelle Thomas, who lives a few hundred yards from the scene, was working at Emanuel Medical Center, a nurse in the surgical unit, when her son called her with word something bad had happened. Soon she heard of the little boy who died 500 yards from her front door.
"I couldn't go to sleep," she said. "I couldn't rest without seeing it and all that blood. I couldn't believe all that blood."

Speaking of which, I mentioned to my mother about the boy tied to a tree, and she said she read about it. It occurred near her, she said she thinks that the boy may have actually died of smoke inhalation due to the fires in the area. I know in California when we have fires here, they tell everyone to stay inside, if it's particularly smoky.
I'm in agreement with you, however about getting involved. I can't help but wonder, if more people had all tried together to stop him, would the baby still be alive?
... It upsets me to no end to know that an adult could do something so ugly to a baby. I can only pray that the baby died quickly. I'm pissed that they shot the father and killed him. I wish they'd clipped his knees or something then beaten him the way he did the baby. :( Maybe I'm wrong for thinking that way but he doesn't deserve any leniency for his actions.

My husband and I have been seriously considering getting guns for protection of our kids, self property, etc...
We are both ex-military so have training. My only concern is of course the kids, youngest is nine. Also, if I got one I would get a concealed weapon permit. If I had it, I would wear it. no since having it if you don't carry it. Still... the kids.:noidea:

Briefly, without reading any responses yet, because I have like---ten minutes before I gotta run again---and I'll read more on this later tonight---it's a sad state of affairs when MEN, grown goddamn MEN cannot stop a man from killing a baby.
I don't care if you're a pencil dick nerd motherfucker from the classroom, you pick something up and throw it, you distract, you get your fucking TEETH knocked out, you get your fucking HEAD CAVED IN---but you try to stop him...
THis is simple. THis is life and death. This is the moment in your life where you can define whether you're fit to be on this planet....these pussies who gave it a shit's shot? If I were the officer, I'd want to shoot them square between the eyes as well.
There is NO excuse....
Be a goddamn MAN, man....get your blood on. Beat this motherfucker, enGAGE! Wrestle him if you can't fight, engage this pile of shit, move him away, bite him, whatEVER.
I understand there are guys out there who would be afraid. I would be. My blood would be boiling, the adrenaline firing, and I would be shaking---the sheer sight of a man brutalizing a baby would terrify me---I underSTAND that...not everyone is a fighter, I realize that....but for Christ's sake, act....act with a motherfucking VENGENCE. In my mind, the witnesses played as much a role in the death of that infant as the murderer did, and should all be herded out to a field, declared failures as human beings, and shot to be killed. It's a sad da yfor our country when men aren't men anymore....when men are too afraid to be hurt in an altercation to save a child's life.
I pray to God, I don't ever have to rely onanyone to help my daughter one day, because humankind has just turned into such a meek, ugly fucking thing.

UPDATE -- 12:40 p.m. TURLOCK — The toddler who was beaten to death on a dark country road Saturday night was killed by his father. At the scene of the beating, someone left a teddy bear and a rose today, apparently a memorial for the boy who was killed.
Sergio Aguilar, 27, parked his gold 2002 Toyota truck on West Bradbury Road near the intersection of South Blaker Road in rural Stanislaus County, then punch, kicked and stomped the small boy to death until a Modesto police officer, dropped on the scene by a helicopter, shot the man dead.
Birth records show the baby boy was born May 8, 2006. The mother, Frances Liliana Casian, did not want to comment this morning.
The boy's name has not been released.
UPDATE -- 2:08 p.m. TURLOCK — The Stanislaus County coroner will use DNA technology to confirm that the toddler savagely beaten to death on a rural road near Turlock was killed by his father, the sheriff's department said today. Detectives said Sergio Casian Aguilar, 27, had no criminal record.
A sheriff's statement said Chief Coroner Krist Ah You is working with the state Department of Justice to expedite results from the DNA test within a week, instead of the usual four to six weeks.
Toxicology tests on Aguilar's body and on the body of the child will be taken. Those results are expected in about four weeks.

something else that I noted, when I viewed his myspace there was no 'frances' on his friends listing. One of the news articles noted the mother of the boy as Frances something or other. It could be that she is on there, and just chooses not to use her real name, or maybe she has a nickname that everyone calls her, that wasn't mentioned to the person reporting.

If memory serves, the name and age are consistent with the myspace account and that pic does look similar to the one on myspace.

Turlock's Park Knoll complex at 1100 Pedras Road was the residence of Frances Casian, whose 2-year-old son, Sergio Axel Casian, was beaten to death by his father, Sergio Aguilar, outside Turlock late Saturday night. Casian and her son occupied Apartment D132 to the lower left of the stairs.

The paper in a hurry to release news didn't check the spelling of the name.

Editor's note: The spelling of Aguiar has been corrected from earlier reports. -----
Wrong name spelling from earlier reports. The correct spelling is, indeed, AGUIAR, no "L." Damn reporters.
The officer who tried to stop a Turlock man from savagely beating his 2-year-old son fired one shot and struck the man in the forehead, killing him, Modesto police said today.
Officer Jerry Ramar shot the man as he raised his middle finger to the officer and resumed kicking the child lying in the road, a Modesto police statement said.

You might send an e-mail to him on myspace. Make sure it has apology in the subject line and send links to this thread and the front page. In your letter I would also suggest that he contact the Modesto Bee and other media outlets and have them make a public apology to him. I am sure this guy has gotten hundreds of hate e-mails and phone calls.

Flipping the cop off? Well had he not been killed that little gesture indicates he wasn't in some oblivious frenzy at the time. I am almost sorry he is dead because one shot to the forehead was way to quick and easy for this piece of shit.

This story brought tears to my eyes. Again, so many people would give a limb just to be able to give birth to a healty child...and this asshole just killed his as if the child was no more than a mosquito.
The police officer rocks for shooting and killing that sorry excuse for a human being. It would've been nice if he took his kneecap out and then the guy would have had to pay for what he did to his son. But, with the state of our justice system, he would have attempted to plead insanity, which I don't agree with. I work in a law firm and no matter what type of case comes my way, I believe that everyone has a CHOICE in what they do..most of them simply CHOOSE to be assholes.
My heart goes out to that poor boy's mother. I can't imagine how she must be feeling knowing that she will never be able to hold her sweet sweet boy in her arms again.

Dad who killed toddler wasn't on drugs, report says
http://www.modbee.com/local/story/349797.html
Toxicology tests negative; behavior still unexplained
Toxicology tests came back negative Thursday for the Turlock man who beat his young son to death last month, adding to the mystery of why a father would commit such a heinous act.
Sergio Casian Aguiar, 27, had no drugs or alcohol in his system that might help explain his behavior, said Kristi Ah You, Stanislaus County chief coroner.
Phil Trompetter is a psychologist who spent 30 years working with law enforcement agencies in Stanislaus County, providing police and forensic psychology. He sold the police psychology portion of his downtown Modesto practice, but kept the forensic psychology element, continuing to evaluate defendants and suspects while serving as an expert witness in the courts.
Trompetter spoke Thursday about the case, but emphasized his hypothesis on Aguiar's actions was based on media reports.
"I don't want to sound like I'm diagnosing this guy," he said. "But it sounds like brief psychotic disorder ... a delusional belief that his son was possessed by demons."
Trompetter listed four conditions that could have led a father to act so violently toward his son:
Substance-induced psychosis produced by narcotics such as methamphetamine, cocaine and PCP. This cause was ruled out by toxicology tests.
Chronic mental illness. Aguiar's family, co-workers and investigators said there were no signs of mental illness.
Delirium caused by a medical condition such as a seizure or long-term illness.
Brief psychotic disorder.
Trompetter said the final diagnosis is not common, but it could explain an acute psychotic break happening without previous symptoms "out of the clear blue."
According to the Web site WebMD, brief psychotic disorder is a short-term illness with psychotic symptoms that often come on suddenly and last for less than one month, after which the person usually recovers completely.
"They got crazy and then they cleared up quickly," Trompetter said of people whom he's diagnosed with the disorder.
According to WebMD, some people might have recurrent episodes of psychotic symptoms, but it is rare.
The symptoms might include hallucinations; delusions; disorganized thinking; speech or language that doesn't make sense; unusual behavior; problems with memory; disorientation or confusion; changes in eating or sleeping habits; changes in energy level or weight; and the inability to make decisions.
According to WebMD, there are three basic forms:
Brief psychotic disorder with obvious stressor occurs shortly after and often in response to a trauma or major stress, such as the death of a loved one, an accident, an assault or a natural disaster.
Brief psychotic disorder without obvious stressor has no apparent trauma or stress that triggers the illness.
Brief psychotic disorder with postpartum onset occurs in women, usually within four weeks of having a baby.
The disorder generally occurs first in early adulthood, 20s and 30s, and is more common in women than in men, according to WebMD.
Trompetter, however, could not recall a case of the disorder resulting in someone committing "such a heinous act of violence."

So they are saying it was a psychotic break? How reasonable is that? Highly unlikely. Even people who do break, for a period of time before appear completely unstable. So why did he have that baby with him in the first place? Or was the rest of the world just not paying attention?

Just found this, I remember reading something like this a long time ago, but since I didn't start reading here until late 09, it wouldn't have been here.
I think that once the cop realized what this fuck was doing, he just waited for a reason to kill him. I would have. If I came up on this shit, I would have shot and answered questions later.
Poor baby... He never had a chance.
Drugs or not, there is no excuse for this shit. I am so glad he is dead. I want to know where this fuck was buried so I can go to his grave and spit on it.

Robynne I think a road trip is in order. Altho I honestly hope they left this guy in the middle of no where to become animal chow. Altho I doubt even they want anything to do with him!
