Court records said it started in January when 20-year-old Cody Blankenship was playing truth or dare with his girlfriend and her cousin and the situation got out of hand.

On Tuesday, WLKY spoke to the girlfriend's parents and to Blankenship’s parents. They have conflicting stories about what happened and who is at fault.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Blankenship told New Albany police his girlfriend dared him to have sex with her 12-year-old cousin while they were playing truth or dare.

Blankenship’s girlfriend is 16. Her parents said their daughter didn't ask Blankenship to do anything.

“My daughter’s traumatized. How do you come back from that? You don’t. My 16-year-old daughter, she is not the same,” one the girlfriend’s parents said.

In January, the parents said they found condoms in a room their daughter was sharing with the 12-year-old. When the parents asked about the condoms, they said the 12-year-old girl admitted to having sex with Blankenship.

“She didn't want to admit it, but after awhile she had come clean and said things had been happening and that Cody had snuck in her bedroom three different times. There's stains on the mattress, I mean, it was really, really bad,” one parent said.

Police said Blankenship had sexual encounters with the girl at least twice.

According to court documents, Blankenship said he was dared to have sex, but he never actually did it.

Blankenship's father, Mark Gowers, defended his son.

“I know my son wouldn't do anything. I mean, I wouldn’t be sitting on camera saying if I had a doubt, but I have no doubt whatsoever. My son would never do nothing like that,” Gowers said.

Both parents agree on one thing: their kids shouldn't have been near each other, especially when the age difference could get them in so much trouble.

Blankenship is charged with two counts of child molestation.

IF YOUR MAD AT THE GIRL then post that or come up here and help fight for Cody but theres no good reason to repost that article. CODY did something stupid and that's all that needs to be said. Way to demonize the victim. It is possible she made allusions or gave signals that it was ok. This may come from her self esteem or other things. That doesn't make it ok. Guys are supposed to recognize to back off if you do get that vibe. It's called the pervometer. It happened to me once. I was 17 or 18 and my friends sister had a crush on me. I believe she was around 12.
