Darrick Sharkey, 24, of the 4200 block of West Iowa Street, was charged with one count of aggravated cruelty to animals, a felony, police said.
During an argument Feb. 25, Sharkey reportedly told his girlfriend: "This is what you get for calling the cops on me" before throwing his girlfriend's Scottie breed dog "Blue Ivory" onto the concrete in an alley behind his house, police said.
The city's Department of Animal Care and Control was notified and a doctor there treated the pup for a broken rear left leg and hip, police said.
