(Palm Bay)—A suspect arrested for multiple child sex offenses may have more victims. Scott F. Lurken, (dob 09-15-1961) is being booked into the Brevard County Jail without bond on four counts of Lewd and Lascivious Conduct and one count of Sexual Battery. The victims range in age from 9-years-old to 13-years-old. Detectives with the Special Victims Unit first received information in May involving allegations that Lurken had sexually battered a 9-year-old female. The incident is believed to have occurred during October 2007, but the victim, who says she was afraid, did not tell anyone until recently. Further investigation revealed Lurken performed oral sex on the child in his home. In a separate case, in July or August of 2007, 11-year-old female reports Lurken kissed her on the lips “with his eyes closed” in a lewd manner while rubbing her back and stomach. The 11-year-old girl was with her brother visiting Lurken at his home on River Dr. NE, Palm Bay.
On June 1, 2008 another victim came forward reporting similar allegations. The victim in this case is a 13-year-old female. “We have reason to be very concerned that there are many other child victims out there who have not yet come forward,” said Detective Greg Guillette of the Special Victims Unit. “Many times these victims are afraid to come forward, but it’s important in order to protect others.” Anyone that may have had similar contact with Lurken or has knowledge of similar behavior by Lurken is asked to contact the Central Florida CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous and can be eligible for cash rewards of up to $1,000.
