MIDDLETOWN – An abduction suspect accused of trying to snatch a 9-year-old girl over the weekend was taken into police custody Tuesday afternoon.
Randy Stanaford, 31, is held this morning at the Middletown Jail and is scheduled to appear later today before a Middletown Municipal Court judge, jail officials said.
Middletown police said Tuesday the victim was riding her bike about 6:30 p.m. Friday in front of her house in the 1900 block of Linden Avenue when Stanaford parked his yellow pickup truck nearby and watched her.
Stanaford eventually got out of his truck and grabbed the child, who fought him off and ran into her house, said Middletown Police Detective Richard Bush.
The girl’s father came out of the house and confronted Stanaford, who fled in his truck. The father, however, was able to report Stanaford’s license plate number to police.
Investigators impounded Stanaford’s truck later that night and finally caught up with him Tuesday afternoon
