A 12-year-old who urinated in a water bottle inside his Texas classroom after denied a bathroom break by his teacher has been sent to an alternative campus for a month as punishment.

The 7th grade student at a Klein ISD school says his teacher threatened to write him up if he left the room leading him to slip a water bottle into his pants to relieve himself.

'She gets so tired of him asking she tells him if he asks again she's going to write him up. If he leaves the classroom she'll write him up for truancy and she hopes he pees in his pants,' the boy's attorney Bill Hawkins told KTRK.

I think the punishment is way over the top. That said I think he just should have left class and went to the restroom and let his parents deal with the teacher.

Another article http://www.imperfectparent.com/topics/2012/01/25/7th-grade-student-forced-to-urinate-in-bottle-teacher-allegedly-refused-him-use-of-bathroom/ states he was drinking water in the class.

They are allowed to drink water in class now ? Here drink all the water you want , but you can't get a pee break ? Back in the days before water bottles when I was twelve my teachers told us at the beginning of the school year if it is an emergency go leave the class and take care of it .

I understand that teachers always have some kids in every class begging to go to the restroom just to get out of class . But I think if I was a teacher ( nightmare ) I'd rather let them go to the restroom rather than risk them going in class .

Do we have teachers here ? Are you only allowed to give out so many bathroom passes now ?

This seems way over the top for me too. If they are allowed to drink water, then the teachers must know that the kids will need to have to urinate at some point.

Last year when my lil one was in kinder, his teacher called me because of my child having to urinate...It went something like this:

Teacher: Hi, I just wanted to advise you that Joseph has been asking to go to the restroom far more then he did last semester (this was after Xmas break)

Me: Oh I see. Now does he actually have to use the restroom or do you suppose he is doing this to wander about the school?

Teacher: They kids go to the restoom in pairs. His restroom buddy said he did use the restroom each time.

Me: So what is the problem?

Teacher: I thought you should know.

Really, this teacher interrupted me while I was in a meeting to tell me that my child peed more in the 2nd semester then he did in the 1st. WTF???? :dontknow:

At my kids school they can drink and eat in class, hell they can even use cells phones as long as the teacher isn't in the middle of teaching. They can also use the restrooms whenever they need to but if the teacher thinks they're screwing off and asking to leave more often than reasonable they'll tell the kid to hold it.

This kid is in the 7th grade, if he doesn't know how to hold it by that age then he may need to see a damn doctor.

While I think this teacher is way over the top for micromanaging near- teens bathroom habits, I happen to know that age can be a pain in the ass and there may be more to the story here, just sayin'. If this kid had such a big problem with his grape sized bladder, he should have made prior arrangements instead of bringing a bottle with the intention of whipping it out in class. I bet all the kids knew he was gonna do it.

He should have pissed himself and gotten paid in the subsequent lawsuit for the resulting "trauma".

This kind of bothers me that the kid was denied a bathroom break. You never know if someone is sick, has an infection, whatever. If the teacher had an issue, she should have let him go to the bathroom and then he should have been sent to the principal's directly afterwards, or given detention, but let him go. If it was to the point of him being a nuisance, maybe he shouldn't have a water bottle all the time or some other possible resolution.

Sounds like he may very well have a medical issue. I think if you tell a kid to hold it an they are clearly uncomfortable it's time to let 'em go. My kid is in 2nd grade tells me he is sometimes not allowed to go and often will not be allowed to get a drink of water.

Personally, I think it's bullshit. IF there isn't a problem w/ kid screwing around in the halls and asking often (short of being a medical reason), a child should not be told NO can't pee, NO can't get a drink. wtf, these teachers run to the bathroom all they want sip on their damn soda all they want but say no to a kid that may be dehydrated, especially after being out for recess or PE.
We have serious heat most the year and kids need to be hydrated or they will not focus on learning. Come up w/ a solution that is fair and stop being such an asshole.

Yeah that guy was sick, he ate a homeless guy. I find they taste too gamey for me. I like college students.

Maybe she was just being overly cautious, I have one in the 5th grade and in the first grade I received a call about his increased bathroom habits and after mentioning it to his doctor he finally fessed up that it was painful, turns out the poor little guy had a kidney infection he was too embarrassed to tell anyone about. All in all the teachers call was an annoyance at first, but without it he may have been far worse off before he finally mentioned there was a problem. I would much rather see that overly cautious teacher than the one who just doesn't care at all to notice.
