Police responded to a home Monday morning in the Meadows mobile home park near Merriman and Van Born roads. There was a report that the child was not breathing. The 18-year-old mother called 911.
After an autopsy conducted Tuesday, the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office said the death has been ruled a homicide. The autopsy determined the child died from asphyxia and blunt force trauma to the chest.
"Things that we see that our patrol officers had seen that would lead us to believe that needs an investigation by the police department.," said Westland Police Lt. Mike Mattich.
The baby was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. Investigators said the baby was bruised.
Moreover, police removed two other children, including the dead baby's twin, from the home. The children are in protective care.
Police were questioning the mother and were calling the death suspicious. Police also were questioning the mother's boyfriend who also was at the home when the baby stopped breathing. http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/Westland-baby-death-ruled-homicide/-/1719418/4884668/-/35507f/-/index.html

The child died from blunt force trauma to the chest and asphyxia.
Both of the parents are being held for questioning. According to Westland Police, the parents are not under arrest and have been cooperative.
When medics carried the baby from the Westland home the 2-month-old was not breathing. It was a stomach turning site for those living nearby is what one neighbor, who did not want to be identified told 7 Action News.
“I saw the ambulance and I saw them come out with a baby with no clothes on,” she said. “And police took the mother, and they still stuck around and the police and I knew something was wrong.”
SOmeone had called police to come to the home in the Westland Meadows mobile home park around 5 am Monday. The caller said a 2-month-old had stopped breathing. EMS crews tried to resuscitate the baby, but he died later at the hospital. Police say there is evidence to believe the child’s death is suspicious.
“Ugh, you know, I just hope no one had, i just don’t see it can come out of the family, but you never know these days, it’s just sad,” said the woman.
[...]
“They were excited before they came home. You know everyone was, twins you know? What else can you expect, you’re having twins!” said the woman.
Neighbors say the boy’s twin brother was home when police came, and that the two lived here with their mother, grandma, and mom’s boyfriend.
“It’s just a shock. That little boy is going to grow up without a brother. It’s just sad, it’s very sad,” said the woman.
The baby’s twin brother and a 2-year-old sister are now with Child Protective Services.

It's like a treadmill. Another baby dead. Another mother and her boyfriend. They were so excited. They had another child a couple of years older.
The baby was 2 months old. I can only assume colic drove one of the adults right off his nut.

Sleep deprivation can drive you nuts. My son was a crier and would cry repeatedly throughout the night until he was over a year old. He wouldn't be hungry or wet, he would just roll over and cry until I gave in and let him sleep with me which I didn't like to do when he was small because I was always worried I'd roll over on him. Now he sleeps with me most nights (brat I know but we're cuddlers). There was many of time I thought I would absolutely go out of my mind. Many of times I'd have to put him in the crib, shut the door, and go outside. There is no excuse for hitting a new born. I couldn't even imagine it. Crying won't hurt the baby, they should have just let him cry.

Westland Parents Arrested following Baby's Death
WJBK) - Police confirm that the 18-year-old mother and 22-year-old father of a two-month-old baby boy who died of asphyxiation earlier this week have been arrested.
Westland Police Lt. Mike Matich tells FOX 2 he expects authorities to present their findings to the Wayne County prosecutor's office later today.

Police said Tuesday the case was certainly suspicious. Police confirmed early Wednesday that the cause of the baby's death was indeed asphyxiation.

Parents arraigned in death of their two-month-old baby
A couple from Westland has been charged in connection with the death of their 2-month-old son. The couple is also accused of abusing the twin son.
Both 22-year-old Antonio Pepalonia Brandon and 18-year-old Nicole Susanne Roberts were arraigned in court Thursday afternoon.
As Roberts and Brandon were escorted by police of court, a relative startled many inside the courtroom as she screamed, “I hate you, I hate you…those were my babies.”
She was also escorted out of the courtroom. She later had no comment when Action News asked her questions.
Brandon is charged with First Degree Felony Murder and Roberts is facing manslaughter for the death of their son Kayden.
Westland Police responded to the 40 block of Ginger on December 5 after receiving a 911 call about the baby boy. The child was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation revealed that the baby had suffered physical abuse along with his twin brother.
During the arraignment, an investigator told the judge, that Brandon admitted to putting his hands over his son Kayden’s mouth to stop him from crying.Sergeant Todd Adams with the Westland Police Department told the judge Brandon said the bite marks found on the little boy’s body belonged to Brandon. Investigators say he confessed to biting his son to get the infant to start breathing again.
Police say the child’s mother also admitted to putting her hands on her son’s mouth to stop him from crying. She says she also witnessed Brandon beating her son when he was as young as seven weeks old.The surviving twin was taken into protective custody.
Brandon could face life behind bars and Roberts could spend 15 years in prison if convicted.

Those babies were beaten since birth
and daddy said the bite marks all over his body are from him attempting to revive him after holding his hand over his face to shut him up

Inkster man arraigned, charged with murder, child abuse
When his two-month-old son would not stop crying on Monday, Antonio Brandon, told Westland police that he held the infant tightly then beat him with a closed fist.He also told police he put his hand over Kayden Brandon’s mouth for 10 to 20 seconds. Brandon told police that he left bite marks around the child’s mouth when he tried to revive Kayden after the child stopped breathing, according to a police document.
Brandon, 22, of Inkster, was arraigned Thursday in 18th District Court in Westland on a count of first-degree felony murder. He also was charged with two counts of first-degree child abuse related to Kayden’s death and injuries to the infant’s twin brother Cameron Brandon.
The twins’ mother Nicole Roberts, 18, of Westland, told police that Brandon had been beating the twins since they were about seven weeks old, a police document said.
Roberts also was arraigned Thursday on a charge of first-degree felony murder. In addition, she was charged with two counts of second-degree child abuse – one for each twin.
If convicted of the murder charges, Brandon and Roberts face mandatory life in prison without the possibility of parole. Brandon’s child abuse charge carries a 15-year penalty and Roberts’ child abuse charge, a 4-year penalty.
Judge Mark McConnell cq-Angel, Cecil set bond at $1 million cash each for Brandon and Roberts and scheduled a preliminary examination for Dec. 15. Both parents were being held in the Wayne County Jail.
A medical examination of Cameron showed that the infant had multiple rib fractures in vary stages of healing and a broken femur, according a police report.
Brandon admitted to police that he caused Cameron’s injuries when he swung the infant upside down by his legs within the last couple of weeks, a police document said.
[...]
Roberts told police said she didn’t stop Brandon from beating the infants because she wanted him to remain in her life and in the boys’ life.

18yo mom, 22 yo dad with 2yo child and new born twins. WOW. needed help to keep their shit in line. NOT by any means excusing this atrocious behavior, just think this was a formula for a potential disaster. I wonder if they had any family support?
I know I'd shit my pants if my youngest sister w/ two young children went off to have twins----and live alone. nope, nope, no way. Baby Kayden had human marks on him and bruises. My god, they lost it on him entirely, a wee little baby.
You know this kind of thing always breaks my heart for the loss of a baby and for the loss of babies who's lives are forever changed. so sorry.
Rest in peace baby Kayden Brandon.

No offense to any of you who were parents at a young age,but this is one of the many reasons teenagers have no business having babies.I did not have mine until I was over 30 and married and it was very difficult so I cannot imagine how hard it is when you are a kid yourself and single. The mother is just as much to blame because she witnessed the abuse and did nothing!!!!!

Funny. Many of our grandparents had kids at 18 or younger and they managed to raise our parents without fucking killing them.
Age has nothing to do with how good of a parent you are, or are not.

I had my first kid at 19. I had my last at 31. Because i was not a fucking idiot the first one is now 15. Did i do a better job with the last? Was i more patient, more equipped to deal with a baby that screams all the time or such at 31 than i was at 19? Yes.
Age does matter. It has been proven. It is not a good idea to have 3 kids by the time you are 18. It will make your life way harder and yes, I am sorry, you will parent less effectively than you would at a later age with more time, money and resources.
What are other consequences of teenage pregnancy?
Life may be difficult for a teenage mother and her child. Teen mothers are more likely to drop out of high school than girls who delay childbearing. Only 40 percent of teenagers who have children before age 18 go on to graduate from high school, compared to 75 percent of teens from similar social and economic backgrounds who do not give birth until ages 20 or 21 (3).
With her education cut short, a teenage mother may lack job skills, making it hard for her to find and keep a job. A teenage mother may become financially dependent on her family or on public assistance. Teen mothers are more likely to live in poverty than women who delay childbearing, and more than 75 percent of all unmarried teen mothers go on welfare within 5 years of the birth of their first child (3).
About 64 percent of children born to an unmarried teenage high-school dropout live in poverty, compared to 7 percent of children born to women over age 20 who are married and high school graduates (3). A child born to a teenage mother is 50 percent more likely to repeat a grade in school and is more likely to perform poorly on standardized tests and drop out before finishing high school (3).

General population studies of maternal filicide
The mothers were often poor, socially isolated, full-time caregivers, who were victims of domestic violence or had other relationship problems. Disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds and primary responsibility for the children were common. Persistent crying or child factors were sometimes precipitants for the filicide. Some mothers had previously abused the child, while others were mentally ill and devoted to their child (41). Neglectful or abusive mothers were often substance abusers. Many of the perpetrators had psychosis, depression, or suicidality (15,16,18,20,28,40-43,45,48,51,52).

My grandparents were teens or young adults during the Depression. It's pretty safe to say they were a lot more mature in their outlook and behavior than kids of an equivalent age today. Before they married, they had responsibilities to their families, and if they were married, they were working hard. My grandmother liked to tell me about when she and Papa were between them holding down 5 jobs! My MIL was telling me the other day how her mother was sent from home at age 15 to work in the city several hundred miles away. In a succession of cities, as a matter of fact, so she could make money to send to her family (parents and sibs). She didn't marry until she was in her 20s.

My mother was 17 when I was born, 19 when my middle sister was born and 23 when the youngest was born. My grandma always told us that my mom almost lost her mind, having three kids and being so young. The thing was, when my mom needed help, my grandma stepped in and helped. I'm not saying the families are to blame, but sometimes someone stepping in can make all the difference. My mom didn't kill any of us. I think my grandma had a lot to do with that.
Then again, there are some people who should never be parents in the first place. If I had twin babies and saw their father abusing them from the time they were born, it would have stopped after the first time I caught it b/c the fucker would have been DEAD. I would have killed anyone who hurt any of my babies. I'd still do it. No real mother would ever knowingly allow a man to abuse her child and not do anything about it. There are people in this world who are too stupid to be allowed to breed OR breathe. I think they both qualify.

I'll tell you what, if I was a young mother of twins and I saw this beast biting and hurting my tiny infant my natural instinct would be to grab those babies and run as far and fast as I could. When my son was a few days old, he fell asleep with his dad in the bed. I went away for 30 minutes to watch the old Grinch cartoon with my other kids. When I came back the babies face was smooshed under his dad's arm. I literally freaked out. I snatched the baby and started bawling. The feeling I had was murderous. I had to turn away from him and cradle the baby or I swear, I felt like I would kill him. Of course he didn't mean to do it but I was infuriated. I don't think I talked to him for DAYS. He never slept with him again. That's what mothers do. We protect our children from all things and all people.

You are completely right - I have had the same feeling that you described and it is almost like being in a rage, but a rage of protection. I suppose that's what separates us from the WHORES. Did you see her say she didn't say anything to him b/c she didn't want him to leave her?
Pa-lease, a dick is really not that important. I mean really it's not....and I can't believe that some women think it is that they are willing to put themselves in these types of situations...and not only watch their child being abused, but join in.

They all drive me insane and I have been on the verge of going crazy many times....NEVER did the thought cross my mind to put my hands on them. If I was having a really hard time i had my Husband or family member take over so i could step outside for a few minutes. There are no excuses for this. If you cannot handle your child when they cry or misbehave and you cannot just take a moment to collect yourself before you do something stupid than you do not deserve to have children at all.

No kids here, but that doesn't mean I can't understand the protector instinct.
Nothing makes me more disgusted and fucking sick than a weak, dumb ass girl/woman who is so worried about being alone that they'll let their dicks get away w/anything. Her saying she also didn't want him to leave because of the kids is even more maddening!
It's not better for kids to have both parents if all they're going to witness is dysfunction and the kids are going to get beaten.
How do you hit a 7 wk. old and not kill him instantly? This atrocious behavior just boggles my mind.

Parents accused in infant's death in court to undergo psychological evaluations
Pair charged with killing their 2-month-old son
Mich. -
The criminal case against a Westland Couple accused of abusing and killing their baby son took a turn Thursday. Just as the preliminary exam was about to get started, a request by the defense lawyers requesting psychological exams put the case on hold.
22-year-old Antonio Brandon waived his court appearance, leaving his girlfriend, 18-year-old Nicole Roberts, to stand up against the charges alone.
The couple, who appeared in court last week, face murder and child abuse charges in the death of their son Kayden.
The baby died of asphyxiation and blunt force trauma to the chest. Investigators say his surviving twin brother also shows sign of severe abuse.
Robert's lawyer says the young mother denies any responsibility for her son's death.
Diana Roberts spoke to Local 4 in her daughter's defense. "I love my daughter with all my heart and I love my grandbabies. Whoever did this - we know who did it - will pay in God's hands."[...]http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/Parents-accused-in-infant-s-death-in-court-to-undergo-psychological-evaluations/-/1719418/5705582/-/tavr30/-/index.html
