(WXYZ) - It’s home for the holidays for three grizzly bear cubs.

The 11-month old trio of brothers arrived at the Detroit Zoo early Friday morning, thanks to a special delivery from Fed-Ex.

The bears were flown in from Anchorage, Alaska after being spotted scrounging for food in neighborhoods after their mother was shot.
Grizzly bears typically care for their young until cubs are about 3 years old, and experts believed the trio would not survive the Alaskan winter on their own.

Now resting safely at the Detroit Zoo, “Mike”, “Thor” and “Boo” will be out of public view for 30 days to ensure that they have no health issues and to give them time to adjust to their new lives.

The grizzly bear is listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act, and only about 1,000 remain in the continental U.S. Grizzlies still roam the wilds of Canada and Alaska.http://www.wxyz.com/dpp/news/trio-of-grizzly-bears-arrive-at-detroit-zoo#ixzz1fOpT05nM

Im from the Soo and I remember being in school and they would announce over the speakers we had to leave school early and go home b/c a hibernating bear had woken up and wandered into the city
Now wouldnt you think they would keep you there and have parents pick you up lol?
And the guy lived next us(we lived in the bush 50 miles out of the city) was the head guy at the zoo and always bringing animals home he had to feed and stuff
brought home 2 baby bear cubs he was feeding and let me take it next door to show my mom and she freaked thinking if I had baby bear, then mama bears gonna be around soon looking

Damn, I didn't know we have screwed up the grizzly population too. All this advancement but while fucking it all up. None of it will be worth a shit if no one is around to enjoy it.

Right now we have a brown bear that is an insomniac roaming around the cross country ski trails and the local downhill ski area in Anchorage. Last month was one of the coldest Novembers we've ever had, and a lot of snow. That bear should be asleep in his den.
