A 22-year-old Glendale woman is accused of endangerment after police say she left her two children alone in a motel room with the door open.
Yelena Kashitsyna was booked into jail on an additional charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Scottsdale police said they were called to the Motel 6 at 6848 E. Camelback Road on Sunday after the management said they had not received payment for the woman's room.
When officers arrived, they said they found the door open and a 2-year-old girl sleeping on the floor near the door. When no one answered, the officers entered and found a 3-year-old boy sleeping on the bed.
After about five minutes, Kashitsyna returned and told police that she left to go get some food. Officers said the mother appeared to be under the influence of drugs. After questioning her, Kashitsyna told officers that she had used heroin and then explained to them where to find it in the room.
