Police have charged a 32-year-old woman with murder after officers found a man stabbed to death late Friday in northern Charlotte.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said they responded around 11:15 p.m. to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon on Northcliff Drive, near Beatties Ford and North Hoskins roads.
When police arrived, they found 47-year-old Leonard Gaskins suffering from an apparent stab wound. Paramedics took Gaskins to Carolinas Medical Center, where he died, according to police.
Detectives canvassed the neighborhood in an effort to find witnesses and information about the killing.
On Saturday morning, police announced they'd arrested Anka Lynne Thompson and charged her with Gaskins' murder.
Police said the killing was not a random act of violence and that Thompson and Gaskins knew each other, but police didn't elaborate on their relationship or a motive in the stabbing.
