A shocking report prepared by Russia’s Federal Atomic Energy Agency (FAAE) on information provided to them by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) states that the Obama regime has ordered a “total and complete” news blackout relating to any information regarding the near catastrophic meltdown of the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant located in Nebraska.
According to this report, the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Plant suffered a “catastrophic loss of cooling” to one of its idle spent fuel rod pools on 7 June after this plant was deluged with water caused by the historic flooding of the Missouri River which resulted in a fire causing the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) to issue a “no-fly ban” over the area.
Located about 20 minutes outside downtown Omaha, the largest city in Nebraska, the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Plant is owned by Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) who on their website denies their plant is at a “Level 4” emergency by stating: “This terminology is not accurate, and is not how emergencies at nuclear power plants are classified.”
Russian atomic scientists in this FAAE report, however, say that this OPPD statement is an “outright falsehood” as all nuclear plants in the world operate under the guidelines of the International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale (INES) which clearly states the “events” occurring at the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant do, indeed, put it in the “Level 4” emergency category of an “accident with local consequences” thus making this one of the worst nuclear accidents in US history.
Though this report confirms independent readings in the United States of “negligible release of nuclear gasses” related to this accident it warns that by the Obama regimes censoring of this event for “political purposes” it risks a “serious blowback” from the American public should they gain knowledge of this being hidden from them.
Interesting to note about this event was the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Chief, Gregory B. Jaczko, blasting the Obama regime just days before the near meltdown of the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant by declaring that “the policy of not enforcing most fire code violations at dozens of nuclear plants is “unacceptable” and has tied the hands of NRC inspectors.”

There is more at the link and it is a Pakistan news source so take it with a grain of salt - or not...

They are sucking at 'a “total and complete” news blackout' because I find no shortage of credible news sources on the topic.

THE SKY IS FALLING!

Really? Because I could not. How about helping a brother out and posting some links?

This plant has had a no-fly ban since 911. So that is one bogus statement.

Ty Gee, I saw lots of news stories surrounding the plant but none other than the one I cited that mention a lvl4 emergency.

Edit: The level 4 emergency is what the media blackout is pertaining to.

One plant, the Fort Calhoun Station, about 19 miles north of Omaha, was shut down in April for refueling, and the operators elected to keep it in “cold shutdown” in anticipation of the flooding. The other plant, Cooper Nuclear Station, located downriver and situated on higher ground, is still operating.http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/21/us/21flood.html

Various articles via a google news search (1,119 listed) discuss the ongoing situation with power plants involved. So much is out there that The power district has set up this web page: "Flood Rumor Control" : http://www.oppd.com/AboutUs/22_007105

Also this from US Nuclear Regulatory Commission

Events at the site are being closely followed by regional news media and Internet bloggers, whose attention was galvanized on June 7 when the plant declared an Alert following a fire in a switchgear room. The fire was quickly extinguished, but briefly knocked out power to two pumps circulating water in the spent fuel pool. This triggered reports that the plant’s spent-fuel pool was in danger of boiling and releasing radioactivity, prompting unfortunate comparisons with the accident at Fukushima.

As the level of the Missouri River continued to rise over the past few days, more and more news media helicopters buzzed the area. This prompted Omaha Public Power District officials to contact the Federal Aviation Administration with a request that they remind pilots of the NOTAM, or Notice To Airmen, in effect since September 11th, 2001, restricting the airspace around the plant. Similar NOTAMS are in effect for all of the nuclear power plants in the United States, as well as other elements of the critical infrastructure, and are meant to discourage pilots from flying too low or lingering in airspaces.

Of course, if you prefer to believe there is a news blackout that only the Russians are privy to the truth, anything else I could postwould just be part of the coverup.

I love ya DV. You are the best foil a guy could ever ask for.

However, considering the plant was shut down to refuel, that means the reactor head has been taken off the reactor, exposing the core; therefore it's even more vulnerable to security issues. In addition, it's impossible to shut down a nuclear plant completley due to the "spent" fuel rods that need constant cooling, because, in reality, they aren't fully spent, nor are they fully cooled. As is the case with reactor # 4 at Fukishima, the rods will be active for centuries. In other words, the real threat here is ensuring that spent fuel rods stay cool.
On June 6th, (http://tfr.faa.gov/save_pages/detail_1_6523.html) (<----link here) the FAA issued a directive banning aircraft from entering the airspace within a two-mile radius of the plant. OPPD spokesman Jeff Hanson said the flight ban was due to high power lines and 'security reasons that we can't reveal.' He said the flight ban remains in effect.Since 9/11, a "no-hover" or "no-loitering" order's been in place over nuclear power plants throughout the US.http://canucwhatic.blogspot.com/2011/06/its-spent-fuel-pool-stupid.html

Dakota Valkyrie Ha Ha Ha Ha :pound:

That fact that Russians would have more info then us on our own Nuc site is laughable too me.
