To "mention" someone, do I need to use the @ symbol?

I see in posts where it recognizes a mention it uses "@". I am confused if it is automatic if I just use the name anywhere in the post. Or I need to create a mention by using"@"before the name and before the post.

I actually had a situation where I needed to use it.

malq I couldn't figure that out either and then discovered theres a way to add tags for a mention in the advanced reply.

(I'm trying it now to make sure..I took your name, pasted it and then high-light it then clicked the speaker looking button)

You have to actually type the @ symbol and don't leave a space between the symbol and the person's username. They'll receive a notification automatically. malq, see?

See I did that wrong before with out the tags, I kept using a space, thanks :-)

B&T is correct. Combine the @ with the correct spelling of the username, with no space between, and you have a Mention!

Odd, I get notices when someone quotes someone mentioning me.. let's ask malq and find out for sure

Yeah, I got the same...I guess, if you create the thread, you could tag yourself on it? Other than that, I have no ideas:P The mention feature would take care of anything else I could think of. I untagged myself...I think it would just look silly that I'm mentioning myself in a post:P
