HAMILTON — A West Chester Twp. man has been indicted on felony charges for allegedly abusing young siblings who suffered fractured skulls in March.

Jeffrey Dean Briley. 28, of the 7000 block of Cox Road, was arrested Sunday, March 30, by West Chester police and charged with two counts of felonious assault. A Butler County grand jury on Wednesday, May 21, returned an indictment against Briley on two counts of child endangering, a second-degree felony. The victims are an infant boy and his 2-year-old sister.

The charges stem from a child abuse investigation that began shortly before Briley's arrest. West Chester police said the alleged abuse likely occurred within 10 days before the infant was taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.

The baby, then 3 months old, suffered various injuries, including fractures to the skull, ribs and wrist; the 2-year-old also suffered a skull fracture, according to police. The children were treated and released from the hospital.

A social worker at the hospital reported the abuse to Butler County Children Services, which in turn notified West Chester Twp. police.

Briley is listed on the police report as the fiance of the children's mother, Shannon Harlow. He had been living at the mother's West Chester Twp. apartment.

Briley is free on bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned June 12 before Butler County Common Pleas Judge Noah Powers.

I am not going to agree with that at all. It is a broad generalization that is insulting to good men everywhere who willinglly raise other mens kids, when they won't. I have the best stepfather in the world. He married my mom when I was 10 and my sis 8. He was 25 at the time and worked his butt off to provide for the 2 of us. My bio dad smacked us around and my first memory is of him beating my mom. Should she have stayed? He also never, not once, paid child support. Sorry, what you said is wrong.

I agree. Abusive boyfriends no. But it said just boyfriends in general. I know some woman on this board have kids by more than 1 man. Did you all wait until you were married to move the gentleman in? I didn't. He moved in about a month before we got married, but because I had 2 girls under 3 years I had a nanny come in for the first 6 months of the marriage. Not because I didn't trust him, but because I don't trust anyone totally until they prove they deserve it.

When they are found out, they should get a sticker on them... not a warning sticker but a hot fiery iron sticker through the skull by way of the genitals.

That's the "green" way to do it as iron rods are re-useable and no trees need be harmed in the making of "I'm a Fucktard" forehead stickers.
