(please search “comprehensive immigration bill” to be directed to the well over 300 page bill that is being splattered over the tv of late)

This was painful reading and I do not think I would advise you to read it, but to share my frustration and anger at the current state of affairs going on in this country. This bill which is being dangled in front of the American people is no joke. If this bill were put in place it would pretty much grant anyone with one toe hold on American soil amnesty, no back ground checks needed, no need to speak English or have any willingness to assimilate into American culture, no penalty placed on those who broke a law… which I guess is the meaning. Never mind that the ones actually trying to do the right thing and go through the process will have to start all over if this bill is ratified. Never mind that it will break down the laws already in place to promote national security and to handle the trespassers that are sneaking around doing stars out there know what. How does this benefit American people I ask? How does this protect them? Twenty loop holes have already been found among the fat and garbage that you have be trained in a third language to even understand to begin with.

Already there are policies in place that would punish our boarder patrol for stopping an illegal from entering this country. Doing their job, following the law would be punishable with possible jail time. Police who stop a person not speaking English, not possessing proper registration is to be released without anymore to do about it. These are the rumors anyway, which even if it they weren’t true should be scary enough to have the politicians out in force trying to soothe unnerved citizens of this potential danger. And danger it is. How does this promote national security?

Why is it that in order to get any bill passed through our respectable houses they have to tact on a bunch of fat that has nothing to do with the topic at hand?

Boarder Patrol is a national security issue it has absolutely nothing, and it never should come in conflict with immigration circuits. This bill if passed will actually reduce the forces at hand to patrol and inspect all persons, goods coming in and leaving the country.

I'm kind of confused by the whole deal. I fail to see how it helps America, other than potentially providing cheap labor, but don't we already have a big enough labor force?

I think we should nationalize every person within our borders right now. The United States has a PR problem right now that is more important in the long run than petty concerns guided by hate and racism. We need a president and congress that will announce to the world that we are returning to an open border policy, the policy that made us the greatest country in the world. We welcome all people that want to come and work hard to better themselves.

Give them all SS numbers and start collecting taxes. Stop looking at the first generation, which does not speak English, and look at their kids, who become as American as the rest of us. Let's use the example of hard-working immigrants to remind the rest of society that welfare is NOT NEEDED. We can end all welfare concurrently with this program, and let private non-profit organizations foot the bill for the extreme cases. Charity can do a far better job of caring for the extreme destitute, and fewer people abuse charities compared to those that abuse the bearucratic morass of government hand-outs.

These two bold moves, Open Borders + No Welfare, will ignite an economic and social boom unlike any ever seen in the history of the world. The spoiled and lazy that we have created with our guilt-ridden welfare will see the far poorer coming into this country and succeeding, and they will have no excuse. They will have to either learn to walk again on their own, or live like animals. We have created this problem by being bad parents, and the transition will include lots of wailing and tantrums, but it NEEDS TO BE DONE.

With open borders, many of the illegal immigrants here will likely choose to return home. We have created a one-way valve with our borders. The trouble of getting in is so great that once you are here, you will never leave, even when you have enough wealth to return home and live a better life. And the millions that will flood over the border in the initial euphoria of our decision will serve notice to Mexico that their political and economic philosophies are flawed. We are already seeing this as a more-sane government has recently been elected in Mexico. Let's let the world see what a miserable mess our Southern neighbor is.

And let's get more citizens from all over the world. Motivated, eager, talented citizens. We have TONS AND TONS of room. We could create cities the size of NY all over the center of our country and hardly even notice. Let's stop being racist and start embracing everyone having the freedom to make life better for themself and their families. If you are concerned about what the racial make-up of this country will be in 100, 500, 1000 years, then you are a fucked-up hate-mongering, idiotic motherfucking racist that ought to be ashamed of yourself. Seriously, if you care that Hispanics might outnumber Whites in the future, just because you happen to be White, then you really need to reevaluate your mental health. Stop being shitheads.

What Swivel said is certainly true. However, I would take issue with abolishing only welfare. That is a step in the right direction, but a solution on its own. Programs like Medicare and Medicaid are both broken and wrong, and should be ended. The private sector can solve that far better, just as it can standard charity. And this should be applied more broadly, to the point where no federal aid exists, and where government is once again restricted to the function of protecting the people from foreign offensives and their fellow countrymen. At that point, the economy really will flourish.

Amen. And let's keep privatizing as much as possible. The USPS needs to go. Parcel services such as UPS and FedEx are far more efficient and email has replaced most of the need of the snail system. It is a horrible drain on resources and funds to deliver catalogs 6 days a week. At MOST we need mail delivered twice a week. However, this would raise efficiency, which means that many taxpayer-subsidized jobs would not be needed, and government is allergic to getting rid of jobs that aren't needed. Even though, with a 5% unemployment rating, these people would obviously find other jobs.

The ignorance and madness of it all is infuriating. And I don't see how to reverse the trend. Could a politician really run for office by promising to do LESS? "Vote for me, I will try to get rid of thousands of laws each month. I will work to make myself obsolete. The country isn't really that broken, and I can't do anything to fix your life, you will have to make your existence as wonderful or miserable as you can. All I am going to do is make that process more efficient by getting government out of your lives." Seriously, can someone get elected saying that?

Well, Ron Paul got elected to the House that way. But to White House? It seems quite unlikely. If, as some close to him have suggested might be the case, he wins or at least finishes second in New Hampshire, it would give him a much better shot for the party nomination. My suspicion is that if he were to become the Republican candidate, he'd win. Republicans, due to lack of a better choice, would vote for him. Libertarians, excited to see somebody with their own values having a real shot, would vote for him. Independents, who rarely find either party satisfactory would note how atypical he is of either, and find him a sufficiently pleasant alternative, thereby supporting him. And you can bet that he'd steal a few million votes from the Democrats themselves, as many supporters will end up displeased regardless of which candidate they select. Of course, the odds of him doing as well as would be needed for this are quite low. So, at present, I would think not. But perhaps when this country becomes even worse, when social security starts to collapse, when postal rates go up yet again, and when taxes have to go up to cover government overspending, such a candidate will stand a chance. One can only hope he comes to power sooner rather than later.

I agree completely. and to help things i believe we should do away with Welfare and Affermative Action.
People should be able to attend colleges because of what they know, not what they are.

And Welfare only encourages immigrants to live off the public dole. Hell we've got a big enough mess with our own with Welfare w/o adding to it.
