Police say the home to which the child was brought Thursday morning offers child-care services. Police spokeswoman Raquel Foster says it isn't clear whether the friend Johnson was seeking help from lives at that address.http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20101211/NEWS02/312110057/Mother+who+sought+help+with+dead+baby+arrested
The autopsy of an infant conducted Thursday showed, in the four weeks she was alive, she sustained fractured ribs and burns on her face and chest, in addition to the skull fracture that was ruled to be the cause of her death.
A probable-cause affidavit filed Friday in Allen Superior Court against 25-year-oldLaDawn Depree Johnson– who faces multiple felony charges in the death of her child, Alyssa Johnson – alleges that the infant's injuries took place between Nov. 25 and Dec. 9.
The affidavit alleges, in addition to the injuries, an unidentified substance was found in Alyssa Johnson's stomach and that the burn on her chest likely came at a different time than the one discovered on her face. The affidavit also states that the injuries were in various stages of healing.
During an interview with police, LaDawn Johnson said she had not sought medical treatment for the infant and that the child had not been seen by a doctor since birth, according to the affidavit.
Johnson, according to the affidavit, told police she slipped and fell while carrying the child and that the burn on the infant's face happened when one of the child's siblings turned on hot water while she was trying to clean her. Johnson said the burn on the chest happened when she was trying to bathe her on Tuesday; the facial burn was from roughly two weeks ago.
Johnson, according to the affidavit, was unable to explain the fractured skull and fractured ribs that the infant sustained.

Alyssa Johnson's death was the subject of a 911 call made at 8:38 a.m. Thursday from a home in the 5700 block of Fairfield Avenue, where Johnson had reportedly taken the infant to get help from a friend, police have said. Responders arrived and, after attempting to render aid, confirmed that the child was dead.
The probable-cause affidavit said that LaDawn Johnson – who arrived at the Fairfield Avenue location with her three other children – was initially told that she could not bring the deceased baby inside the residence. Police said the emergency call was not made by LaDawn Johnson; another person at the Fairfield residence notified authorities.http://www.news-sentinel.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20101211/NEWS/12110340
She drags a dead baby to a friend's house? Was she looking for help in getting rid of the body? She certainly wasn't looking for help for the baby.
