SOUTH SALT LAKE - Police say a mother and two children found dead Monday night in a South Salt Lake City home were the apparent victims of a murder-suicide.
Police found the bodies of 28-year-old Tracie Williamson and her 10-year-old daughter Linzie Williamson. They also found the bodies of Tracie Williamson's 34-year-old boyfriend, Peter Perez, and his 1-year-old daughter, Jessica Perez. Each had been shot multiple times except for Peter Perez, who appeared to have one self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head, police said.
The bodies were discovered about 7 p.m. when a police officer responded to a request for a welfare check at 2365 S. West Temple. It was the second such check police had been asked to perform in two days.
When the officer opened a window and moved the drapes, he could smell the odor of bodies decomposing and could see a body in one of the rooms, police said.
A suicide note was found near Peter Perez.
South Salt Lake Police Chief Chris Snyder said Tracie Williamson's father, David Partridge, had been concerned for his daughter's safety in recent months. He asked police twice in April to check on her. They did, Snyder said, but Tracie Williamson told police she was fine.
Police went to the home again May 10 for a welfare check and were unable to make contact with anyone inside.
Snyder said there didn't appear to be anyone home at that time and no signs of foul play, so officers left.
On Monday, Tracie Williamson's sister, Natalie Cleverly, called police again and told them her sister and 10-year-old niece had not been seen or heard from for at least a week.
When an officer arrived, Snyder said, he searched the outside of the home and noticed all the doors and widows were locked. The officer decided to pry open one of the windows and that's when he discovered the body, police said.
Snyder would not say what room or rooms the bodies were found in, or if they were together.
