We have upgraded, obviously. It took awhile just to get it to load properly as we had some old plugins that did not work with this version. There are probably a ton of things not working correctly, but I am getting to them as I find them while getting the style back to the way it was (or as close as possible). if you run into any issues, post them here. I may not reply immediately or fix it immediately, but at least I will know what the issue is I need to resolve.

I dunno, hellsbells. No one else is reporting it and since you were getting it before and after the upgrade I am not sure where to look. I'll see if I can find out something, but I got to get other forums stuff working first. You may wanna try clearing cahce or something, or see if you get the same error in a different browser.

We are already using the latest chat box as the old one wouldn't work with this version of the forum. You are having the same error with both versions.

As soon as those customizations work with this software, I'll be happy to add them back. But I am more worried about getting the forum functioning than I am trying to hack plugins that are no longer supported at the moment. The only things that are not on now, that were, are the Thanks and Groans, the automatic video player and the Experience points. The latter works fine, I just don't like how cluttered it makes the forum look. So until I come up with a look I like, I have turned that off for now while I work on other things.

You can tag a user to a thread for whatever reason you see fit. I haven't tried it, but maybe it can be used to alert a user to a thread without PM'ng or maybe they are a part of what the thread is about. Dunno. Haven't looked inot it yet. As for the "mentioning" thing, now instead of just typing a user's name, you can use the "@" symbol to let the person know that you mentioned them as well as have their name auto-linked to their profile

The way it did work for me was when I'd hit "Enter" after composing a chat the text would disappear immediately, then show up the next time the chatbox refreshed. Now the chat stays visible until the chatbox refreshes.
I'm out here at about the farthest reach from the DCO that ADSL still works, so my speed isn't the greatest. On a good day I get about 640 kb/s; a wget session maxes out at 66 kB/s. FWIW this chatbox seems to be more reliable too, in that I don't get the constant-refresh icon with no new content.

There is a small arrow next to the thread. That will take you to the last post. This goes for the Top 10 Stats as well as the Last Post listing.

The old CP functions are in the upper right corner under "Settings". You can also edit your profile once you get to the settings.
As far as the smilies, click on "Go Advanced" when you create a post. The "More" link will give you all the available smilies.

Advanced @User Tagging Mod: What is it?
DragonByte Technologies is proud to present [DBTech] Advanced @User Tagging.
This version introduces several major new features that users have requested, and some others we were unable to fit in v1.0.
The @user Tagging mod is designed to increase activity on your forum by allowing members to mention each other in posts when talking about them.
This is done in a very easy way, very similar to how Twitter mentions people. We use @ ; as the tags, so for instance you could say:
----
This new mod from @Dragonbyte Tech; is pretty cool.
----
The “@DragonByte Tech;” Will become a link to the DragonByte Tech users profile, it will also inform DragonByte Tech they had been mentioned, and link to the relevant thread/post via a new area in the profile section, as well as a new tab in the shoutbox.
It also allows members to “tag” the thread for specific other members by inputting their usernames in the tag box above the posts of the thread.
This is a great way to increase your forum activity with no extra admin input required – people will start to mention posts/threads to their friends, which will increase the amount of posting. This is especially useful of forums which have an international contingent (so threads posted in during the night for some of your members don't go overlooked) or forums which have a lot of posts/threads each day – again to make sure that a post a person might want to read doesn't get lost in the crowd.
For a better example...let's say I wanted to tell you guys that I am pretty sure that Jaded was passed out drunk from paint thinner and I wanted her to know that I said that. By using the @ symbol, she has been notified on her profile that she has been mentioned in a post with a link to that post. Also, if I wanted Dakota to check out this thread for one reason or another, I can simply Tag her name to the thread and she will be notified for an entirely different reason without me having to construct a PM or something.
Morbid
November 7th, 2010, 04:44 PM
Once I get all the mod working, added or removed, I plan on putting a list together with explanations of what they do if they pertain to forum members. Right now I am simply trying to get everything working while styling the forum to look as close to what it did as I can. It'll take a few days or more, but by then you won't even remember how the old one operated.

It appears that any threads/posts before the upgrade that were thanked are now NOT thanked. I went back to update on a post and noticed that with all the posts and thread. So does this mean the thanks are all gone? not sure it that applies to rep's too. I just might have to go back and thank some posts that were really awesome.....unless the thanks reappear at some point.
Also having a heck of a time with the search feature. A thread that I know was posted here on Matthew Resendez baby killer, baby's name was Holden Resendez, CANNOT find it no matter what search words I use. I want to check on updated info as baby died, not sure if that was posted AND if the perp's pic was posted, got that too.

While the old thanks/groans are not showing, the points given for them are still included in the rep points. When I click on "Settings", all my old Reputation Comments are also still there. I would just continue on forward and not really worry about the old ones.

While I figure that out, the Statistics box arrow will take you to the last unread post. Also, any thread you go to, at the top there is a link that will take you to the last unread post. I'll look into what happened with the arrow to do that from the thread listings on the home page. Also, if you go to the What's New tab or the Unread Posts link, the view first unread arrow is the the left of the thread title.

Everything is working fine for me.
I have a few questions though,
1) I made a thread and it shows my text in a box unlike everyone else's. What did I do wrong, if anything?
2) How to search to see if a thread has already been posted on a particular crime...? I used the advanced search box in the upper right hand corner using the perps name and got many unrelated items including So-and So. Is that the correct search function?

Edit: I just figured out you actually have to click on advanced search to take full advantage not just type in the box.

You used the wrong button to quote the text. Use http://www.dreamindemon.com/forums/images/editor/quote.png ("Wrap QUOTE tags around text") instead of the one that looks like this: http://www.dreamindemon.com/forums/images/editor/php.png

Works the same way the old one did. Advanced search seems more powerful, if you know what you're doing. A name like JOHN JONES will bring up many matching but proper use of Advanced Search can refine it.

As of right now, the new Thanks does not tie in with user rep nor does the dislike. I am not sure if that is a feature they will add or not, but I will ask. So for now, if you wanna rep someone, you gotta do it the old fashioned way.

Just a mention. I really like the Quick Link options as was available before, BUT now when you are lets say looking at New Posts, that options isn't there. You have to click FORUM up top to get that option again, but did notice it's available when you actually in a thread but not when looking at the list of threads within a forum...make sense? i hope so.
Not a biggie but would be nice to have that available at the top at any area in the forums rather than having to click FORUM again to get that option. for instance when I want to look at subscribed threads or who's on line while looking at the New Posts I have to do what I mentioned to get to that place. Don't think it's a quirk but probably part of the new design. Meh, I'm tired, never mind.

Morbid - A couple questions that have come up in the BS thread. I referred them to this thread...
Ugh every time I want to come in here I have to go to the first page and hit last page otherwise I can just open the attachment BS

So, is there a difference between LIKING a post and THANKING a post? Can you run out of LIKES or THANKS?
Morbid???
Morbid
November 9th, 2010, 08:48 AM
First off, a Thanks is a valid thanks. Think of Thanks as something you'd use when you've been helped by a post, and Like is just enjoying the post in general. You can do both, Thank and Like a post, but there is a difference. You cannot run out of either of them currently, and they do not effect your Reputation...not yet, anyway. They are working on adding that.
As for the BS thread, and large threads like it, how are you entering that thread? Meaning, where are you clicking to get to it?

On SOME long threads, the page designation is overlayed by the <DIV> containing other elements (such as attachments and tags). This makes clicking on the final page number next to impossible.

It ONLY seems to occur on the "search.php" page. It's fine in the listing of the "Den Time Wasters" forum (forumdisplay.php).

I think I found a crude workaround for now. I am not happy with the look, but at least now the icons are not overlaying any longer.

Can't you just eliminate the display of those items on the search page? I dunno how many people actually hover over to see the tag listings or click to view the attachments....

Why you gotta make things so easy? Done.

I forgot to add. When creating a post or reply, Bold members can disable the ability to Thank, Like or Dislike it (from Advanced post creation). I assume that's what Pete has done. :P

Why in Hades would anyone thank Pete?
I personally find Pete entertaining, and I giggle everytime a newb jumps a post of his.

First off, a Thanks is a valid thanks. Think of Thanks as something you'd use when you've been helped by a post, and Like is just enjoying the post in general. You can do both, Thank and Like a post, but there is a difference.
Good point, and agree!

I had similar issues. They just brought back profile customizations, so it may be a bug they need to work out.

When searching for a specific item with more than one phrase, enclose them in quotes. A search for "kevin fox" brings up the Riley article you are looking for.

You tube videos... before I could go to youtube and copy and paste the link you get when you hit "share" and the actual video would post when I hit my reply here. Now it just is the link to click on it. Do I have to do something different now?

As other have already answered, you gotta do it the old fashioned way for now. The plugin we used to use that would parse all that shit out for you automatically seems to have been abandoned by its creator. We will put in a replacement as soon as someone steps up and makes one.

Thanks Morbid and D.V. this looks awesome, this is not a new issue, I had the same one before but I just wanted to ask (and it is entirely possible that I am missing something) How come we can not see who the person who reps us is??

I believe if you are "friends" with the person who repped you it will identify them. If not, they have to sign it. If neither is true it will remain a mystery to you. Friend whores don't normally have that problem.
Edit; I am curious where to go to actually see your list of last 10 reps. Seems I can only access it when I get one through notifications. Like once a month :P

FknKraze and @ EVERYONE! Seeing who it is that gave you a a Rep is a perk of being a BOLD member (http://www.dreamindemon.com/forums/payments.php?). Most people "sign" their Reps, but not all.
NEW! Rates of $20/yr, $35/2yr, and $50/3yr make it a sweet deal.

I forgot about that. Once I get the front page stable, I'll get on that list of differences. But like I said, non-bold members aren't missing out on anything, really. We just give the subscribers a bit more features to use in functions everyone has already. Least we can do.

I noticed that too. Some older posts have the "Thanks" attached and some do not. Hmmm.... must be a glitch - maybe Morbid can answer that?) BUT all the Reputation points for "Thanks" under the old system were retained by members... whether or not they show up on the actual post.

I cannot utilise the bold or italic functions unless I do so manually. If I reply to someone else's post, using quotes, the colour, bold and italic functions will appear within the quotes instead of below them. I have to type these things manually. This has never been the case before.

To access groups:
http://i0.simplest-image-hosting.net/168bf183b2abe8bc9188aacc163dd507/-dd-2316.jpg
Click on "Groups" under "Community" option available on most pages. That will list all groups and options.
~OR~
If you are a member of a group, they are listed on the left side of your D'D member profile page (in the box located under "Albums").
~OR~
http://i0.simplest-image-hosting.net/168bf183b2abe8bc9188aacc163dd507/-dd-390.jpg
If you are a member of a group, the are listed in the "Groups" section at the bottom of the front page of the D'D Forum. Click on the Group name to see all discussions or the Last Post to read that
NOTE! If a group has been made into a Social Forum, (at the moment: Parent Wise, Garden Party, or It's not all Sick and Depraved) access to the threads is through the "Social Forums" section listed directly above the "Groups" Section on the front page of the D'D Forum. Click on the group name to see all threads in that group. Clicking the group name in the "Groups" section will take you to that group info NOT the discussions. The "Last Post" in the Groups area does NOT work for Social Forums.

Don't use that link. :) :noidea: I have no clue where it's supposed to go. Even though I'm now an Admin, there are areas I still have no access to or clue what they are supposed to be. I'm sure Morbid will look into it but I'm not sure when/if that link will get fixed.

I'm curious - there isn't a way to "favorite" a post, is there? Like when I am in Twitter, there are stars on the tweets that I can tap and it saves the tweets in a generic-type folder of favorites. I use it to save favorite tweets, or there might be internet links I want to access later. I would love to have that feature here. I would assume it is something the program might not offer?
