SCOTTSDALE - Police nabbed an alleged car thief Saturday with the help of a cruiser equipped with an automatic license plate scanner.
The scanner detected the plate about 11 p.m. on the 3200 block of north 71st Street. The unoccupied vehicle had been reported stolen by a Chandler resident.
Scottsdale police set up surveillance near the vehicle and arrested Michelle Crook, 28, of Mesa on suspicion of car theft after Crook was seen getting into the car, police said.
