Goddamn I am behind with the gaming news. Bethesda (http://www.bethsoft.com/) releases a teaser trailer for Fallout 3 (http://fallout.bethsoft.com/) almost a week ago and I am just now finding out about it today. Ugh.

No actual gameplay is shown, but the entire video was done using the game engine. I am getting less worried about Bethesda's sequel to the Interplay franchise. They got the look and feel down, especially with the song choice, propaganda posters and a glimpse of the PiP. But the jury is still out as they are still staying pretty tight-lipped as far as actual gameplay is concerned.

I loved the first two. I hope they keep that "feel".

Yeah, that is the important part for me. So far, so good...at least from what we hae seen so far. But the gameplay is what will do it. I am praying it will be along the lines of the Morrowind series and not a FPS.

I'm hoping it's something different. Something more along the lines of a real time strategy. Something more than a point/click/wait/point/click/heal/point type deal; something new that other future rp's try to copycat. Then again, maybe I'm setting the bar too high.

I absolutely LOATHE RTS games. I pray they never do that with the Fallout series, or at least not with a sequel. It would be impossible to capture the feel of Fallout with RTS simply because it would be shrouded by the gameplay mechanic. Fallout is more built for choices and outcomes, exploration and character development. These core items can only be done in the same way the Daggerfall games were done. That is why I think Bethesda is going to give you the world of Fallout that you can explore in the same vein as Morrowind.

Personally, I have my fingers crossed. I am SICK of fantasy and ready for some post-apocalyptic gaming. The last game like that I enjoyed was Futureshock, the Terminator game for the PC.

Well, looks as if the Bethesda team is on the right track. 1Up.com has a new article (http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3160714) detailing what to expect from the sequel to one of the best games ever made. Some highlights include the sliding scale karma system, how combat will remain numbers based while still playin from first-person perspective, shoulder mount perspective (imagine Resident Evil 4), or even to an almost overhead perspective reminiscent of the original. I also like that the game will not have you taking a good-guy, bad-guy route as there is a lot of grey area to mold your character into. Check out the article and sleep easy knowing that Fallout does seem to be in some very capable hands.
