Theres not alot out yet but its all over the news here tonight

TAYLOR, Mich. - A woman with Taylor connections is now involved with a shocking find in Boyne City. Police discovered a backpack with the body of a newborn baby inside.

Police aren’t saying much about the case. They’re waiting for a report from investigators in Northern Michigan, but it certainly is a case they’re not taking lightly.

In the midst of mourning a fallen auxiliary officer, the Taylor Police Department now has a new investigation on its hands. It’s the death of a baby found hidden in a backpack of all things.

“An individual brought in a backpack that had a very foul odor, and when (the officer) looked in the backpack, there were some plastic bags,” said Charlevoix County Prosecutor John Jarema.

He says among the plastic and bag found in some Boyne City bushes was an infant. An autopsy will now determine how the child died and if it was criminal.

“If it was a stillbirth, then it’s a different set of circumstances then if it was a live birth and abandoned and killed,” Jarema said.

Investigators believe the baby’s mother was from Boyne City, but gave birth to the child while visiting relatives in Taylor over the summer. Police here are now in charge of the case because the thought is the baby likely died in Taylor.

Autopsy results are still pending, but Taylor Police believe the baby likely died here and then was brought to Boyne City. They hope to know much more on Monday.http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/dpp/news/local/body-of-newborn-found-in-backpack-in-boyne-city-20100910-wpms

I don't understand how some bitch could just be like 'yep, just gonna stick this in the backpack'---like it's dirty gym clothes or something? I'm the type of person that seriously can not tell lies! I can't imagine having something like this on my mind, and just keeping my mouth shut!!! Or hiding a pregnancy? I gained 40 lbs while pregnant...no hiding that! Makes me sick for these poor sweet babies.

Unless she was either big, or always wore loose clothing.
I have a feeling that if I got preggers, no one would be able to tell till I hit last month.
I look preggers most days anyway.

with my last son i was diagnosed with hyperemissis (prob spelt that wrong) which is really just extreme morning sickness. i actually weighed less when i had him then i did when i got pregnant. at one point a coworker even asked me if i was still pregnant i was about 7 months along. there are so many things that make it possible to hide a pregnancy. :birthday:

Curious who this someone is and how old the woman who gave birth is. She claims baby was stillborn. Call me jaded, but we shall see. Even then, wtf dispose of the baby in that way? didn't know what to do. Here's an idea, go to a hospital.

Someone found the foul-smelling backpack Tuesday in the bushes of a yard in Charlevoix County and took it to Boyne City Police (http://www.freep.com/article/20100911/NEWS05/9110481/1320/Babys-body-found-in-backpack-in-Boyne-City), Chief Randall Howard said.

The body was taken to a hospital for a forensic autopsy, the results of which are pending.

The baby's mother is a Boyne City-area woman who gave birth while she and her family visited relatives in Taylor, Howard said.
Charlevoix County Prosecutor John Jarema said the woman, who was not identified because she has not been charged with a crime, said the baby was stillborn.
She decided to dump the body because she was afraid and didn't know what to do, he said. Also would like to know how old the baby was. They aren't saying fetus so...waiting on more news, sure like to know the gender as to put a name for the poor child.

Rest in peace little one.

A 22-year-old Michigan woman accused of putting her stillborn infant inside a backpack and trying to bury it is released on bond while she awaits trial.

Emma Lynn Clemens, of Boyne City, is charged with disinterment and mutilation of a dead body after the infant's body was found in some bushes near a home on Trent Street in Taylor on July 25.

Police said Clemens had given birth to the infant just a day before.

"In this case, the defendant allegedly discarded a dead body in a backpack. This is simply not legally or morally acceptable. There is a proper way to handle the death of a body," Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said.

Clemens was arraigned Wednesday afternoon in 23rd District Court in Taylor.

The judge granted her attorney’s request to reduce her bond, saying that she has qualified fully with authorities in this case.

"She is in school. She is a senior at Northern Michigan University. She has a full-time job," said Clemens’ attorney, Edward Zelenak.

He told the court she is not a flight risk.

"In spite of living up north, she has ties to the community. Her family grew up in the city of Taylor," said Zelenak.

Police said Clemens attempted to hide her pregnancy from her family and did not carry the baby full term.

Clemens is alleged to have placed the dead infant in a backpack after it's stillbirth about 7 p.m. July 24 in Taylor. The following day, Clemens is alleged to have taken the backpack containing the baby's body to Boyne City, where she attempted to bury it in bushes near a home there, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's office.

The backpack was found two or three weeks later in the backyard of a Boyne City home by a property owner who immediately reported it to the police, said Taylor Police Lt. Mary Sclabassi.http://www.detnews.com/article/20101124/METRO/11240406/1409/Woman-arraigned-on-charges-of-burying-baby-in-backpack
