A 2-month-old baby is being treated for broken and fractured bones at an area hospital after the boy's father was arrested on felony charges of child abuse.

The infant was taken to the hospital Saturday night and during the examination, doctors found the child was suffering from a broken femur, two skull fractures and an old wrist fracture. Doctors classified the injuries as child abuse.

Investigators arrived and interviewed both parents, who denied any knowledge of the injuries. While interrogating Christopher Thompson Case, the 20-year-old father of the baby, it was determined he was the primary care giver during the critical times in which the child most likely suffered the injuries.

Case was arrested Monday afternoon on three felony charges of child abuse. He was booked into Midwest City Police Department jail where he posted a $30,000.00 bond.

Police said the investigation is on-going. Investigators are trying to determine if anyone had knowledge of the abuse and allowed it to occur.

The 2-month-old is recovering in the hospital and a DHS hearing is expected this week to determine who will take custody.

"These cases are always difficult, especially with a child of this age who is completely defenseless." Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes said in a press release.

...the examination, doctors found the child was suffering from a broken femur, two skull fractures and an old wrist fracture. Doctors classified the injuries as child abuse.OK, so he was the primary caregiver during the times most likely the injuries occurred. BUT, with an old injury, wtf? did mom not notice baby absolutely miserable? last time I remember a wrist fracture hurt.

It always blows my mind that one parent is seemingly unaware, especially the mother of a infant who spends a good deal of time with baby. He's 20 yo she's probably very young too. Likely first time mom but STILL, c'mon woman didn't you notice your baby crying something awful? I bet the baby beating bastard hurt baby AGAIN as baby was crying over an old injury, broken femur, 2 skull fractures....damn, poor sweet child.

These are the proud parents (http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/43/l_040e7dcf60ad4bc3ac7d8411ead4c06d.jpg).

MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma – A 2-month-old baby is being treated for broken and fractured bones at an area hospital after the boy's 20-year-old father was arrested on felony charges of child abuse.

The infant was taken to the hospital Saturday night. During the examination, doctors found the child was suffering from a broken femur, two skull fractures and an old wrist fracture. Doctors classified the injuries as child abuse.

Investigators interviewed both parents, who denied any knowledge of the injuries. After an interrogation, police determined Christopher Thompson Case, the baby's father, was the primary care giver during the critical times in which the child most likely suffered the injuries.

Case was arrested Monday afternoon on three felony charges of child abuse. He was booked into Midwest City Police Department jail where he posted a $30,000.00 bond and was released.

The parents and the baby lived at a Midwest City apartment complex. New parents as well as newlyweds, they faced the challenges of caring for a newborn.

And those challenges can be daunting for young couples.

"The stressers that are there, maybe the lack of knowledge of how to parent, or what a baby entails--so that can be a real stress on someone who's not prepared for that," said Pat Damron with the Oklahoma Health Department.

The health department offers classes for parents to be. One of those classes includes regular home visits by nurses.

The mother's attorney released the following statement about the incident: "Taylor's main concern is the health and safety of her baby boy. She is shocked and outraged at the possibility her husband may have intentionally harmed him. She is filing for divorce."
