FARGO - A judge on Monday set bail at $100,000 cash or bond for a Fargo man accused of raping a 7-year-old autistic boy.
Steven Conrad Niemcryk is charged with two counts of Class AA felony gross sexual imposition for the incidents, which he said occurred in April.
After being arrested Niemcryk, 26, told police he had been physically abusive to the boy several times over the past year when the child would not listen to him.
Niemcryk said he raped the boy on two occasions while babysitting him. He said he confessed because he couldn’t live with himself otherwise.
Niemcryk told the judge he didn’t want an attorney, but was appointed one due to the serious nature of the charges.
Each count carries up to life without parole.
