HILLSBORO, Ore. -- A father was in court Friday on more than 20 charges of sexually abusing a child in his family.

James Nelson has been indicted on 21 charges of raping and molesting a relative -- a girl younger than 14-years-old.

According to the arrest report, the child was the daughter of Nelson's wife, but it isn't clear whether Nelson is her genetic father.Detectives said they believe the abuse went on for more than a year.
