A classroom aide at an elementary school in Crofton was arrested Friday for allegedly sexually assaulting two young girls in his neighborhood, county police said.
John Riva, 63, of the 1700 block of Harewood Lane in Crofton, was charged with several counts of assault and sex and child abuse after being taken into custody in the Towson area, county police said.
Riva worked as a temporary support assistant at Crofton Meadows Elementary School, according to school officials.
School officials immediately removed Riva from the school last week when they were made aware of the investigation.
He has not been allowed to return on school property since then, county schools spokesman Bob Mosier said.
The alleged victims - a 7-year-old girl and an 8-year-old girl - live in the Crofton area, and their families are acquainted with Riva, police said.
