AKRON, Ohio - A man from Canton who works as a reporter for a newspaper in Akron is facing sex charges for allegedly touching a 14-year-old girl.
Springfield Township police said 54-year-old Billy Lilley, who writes for the Akron Beacon Journal, has been charged with sexual imposition. Officers said he was the alleged victim’s softball instructor at Massarelli Baseball School on Massillon Road in Akron.
The police report states that on several different occasions, Lilley rubbed the teen’s thighs, groped her behind and kissed her on her cheeks and neck. He also allegedly told her that he loved her.
The date listed for the offense is April 17.
Lilley will appear in court for a hearing on June 22 at 9:30 a.m.
