GOWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) - It's now being revealed that a former Gowanda police officer admitted to staging his own shooting back in 2008.
The Erie County District Attorney's office says 36-year-old Jason Miller's confession was part of a plea deal to an official misconduct charge last month.
That plea was for accepting three free pizzas in exchange for burying a traffic ticket.
As for the shooting, Miller says he hung his bulletproof vest on a tree branch and fired into it, then hit himself in the chest with a piece of wood to simulate the bruises.
He's due in court for sentencing Thursday.

Her alleged attacker, Willie Williams of Klondike, made a court appearance Tuesday.
Parker says Callahan's autopsy results have been sent to the Alexander County State's Attorney.
Mother, Son Charged In Accidental Shooting Death
Teen Shot At Hollywood Home

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -- A 14-year-old Hollywood boy and his mother each face charges after the teen shot and killed a friend in April, according to the Broward State Attorney's Office.
Jeff Dilworth, 14, will be charged as an adult with manslaughter in the death of 13-year-old Daniel Torres. The two were friends and Apollo Middle School classmates.
The Broward State Attorney's Office said Dilworth told investigators that he had taken the 9 mm gun from his mother's nightstand and shown it to Torres, who unloaded the gun, and then Dilworth took it back. Prosecutors said Dilworth pulled the trigger without knowing whether the gun was still loaded and shot Torres in the head, killing him.
Dilworth called 911 after his friend was shot, describing what happened.
"My mom has a gun and we were messing with it, and we took out the clip and we took out all the bullets, and Daniel was messing with it," Dilworth said. "I said, 'Give me the gun,' and then I pulled the trigger to see if there was a bullet in there, and I shot him. … He walked in front of me when I pulled the trigger."
The dispatcher asked Dilworth questions about the incident.
"So you pointed it at him and you didn't realize there was a bullet in it?" the dispatcher asked.
"No. He moved. He walked in front of me when I pulled the trigger," Dilworth said.
"OK. But you didn't think there was a bullet in it, right?" the dispatcher asked.
"No because, like, when you cock it back, the bullet flies out. But the bullet didn't fly out, and when I pulled the trigger to see if it was going to shoot, and then he walked in front of me," Dilworth said.
Prosecutors said they chose to charge Dilworth as an adult because of the severity of the charge and because of the boy's age. If convicted, Dilworth faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.
The suspect's mother, Shari Edwards, who owned the gun, was charged with culpable negligence, a third-degree felony. Prosecutors said she could face up to five years in state prison if convicted.
Edwards and Dilworth are expected to surrender to authorities soon, according to the Broward State Attorney's Office.

A Cincinnati police officer is in custody after he allegedly exposed himself to mall employees last month.
The Union Township Police Department said Robert McDonough III was captured on videotape exposing himself May 3 to several workers at the Sears store at Eastgate Mall.
In an affidavit, police said McDonough pulled his zipper down while not wearing underwear, then went up to several people inside Sears in an attempt to determine who would tell him that his zipper was down.
The officer was arrested Tuesday after police tracked him through a purchase McDonough made at the store the same day, police said.
McDonough pleaded not guilty to public indecency.
A judge set his bond at $1,500, and McDonough must stay out of Eastgate Mall and all Sears stores if released.
Police department officials have restricted McDonough to desk duties for now.

facebookdel.icio.usbuzzdiggreddit›› Email›› PrintPHOENIX -- Police are investigating what they said could be an attempted murder-suicide, although the suspected shooter is still alive.
Police said a 56-year-old man shot and killed his 66-year-old wife at a home near 15th Avenue and Peoria Avenue Friday night. After shooting his wife, the man turned the gun on himself, police said.
The man waited four days at the house before calling police Tuesday morning, police said. He is being treated at a Phoenix hospital and police said he will be facing charges when released.
The couple was married for 10 years, according to police, but the husband told police they had been fighting this past year. Police said the man told him one of the arguments led to the shooting.
"(The suspect) said they had some disagreements in the past year," said Phoenix police Sgt. Tommy Thompson. "It reached the point where he shot her . . . then felt compelled to shoot himself."
News of the shooting began to spread quickly, and neighbors said they never expected such tragedy from this couple.
Police have not identified the female victim because her next of kin has yet to be notified.
