MIAMI (CBS4) ―
A 4-year-old boy landed in this landscaping after he fell from the 17th floor apartment he was in.
A three-year-old boy fell from his 17th floor Biscayne Bay-front balcony to the 10th floor pool level below...and lived to bawl about it. Jay Mosely was on the pool deck with his two children when he heard a "loud thud" and ran to find the youngster lying on a thin strip of dirt-filled planter separating the building from the concrete pool deck. "He started crying and squirming," Moseley said. "We were trying to hold him still but he wouldn't let us."

Brendan Grubb, general manager of the Grand Hotel and Condominium said the boy apparently hit the crown of a palm tree, richocheted off into a large shrub and then bounced onto the dirt strip less than three feet from the cement deck after falling some 70 feet "We saw a real miracle here," Grubb said.

"It was like God's hand was on him as he came down," Moseley said.
A Miami Police source told CBS4 News the boy was in the apartment with his mother and grandparents when he somehow managed to open the sliding glass door and go onto the balcony unnoticed. When the mother realized he was missing she went onto the balcony, looked over and saw her son and the commotion below.

It's not clear how the boy came to fall from the balcony. A tall, glass enclosed railing surrounds it with a gap of only a few inches wide on the sides, seemingly too narrow for even the smallest toddler to squeeze through. Police say it appears to be purely accidental and no charges are expected to be filed against the mother. The boy is expected to be released from the hospital today, unscathed.
While the child fell from the 17th to the 10th floor of the building, it was only a six floor fall. There is no 13th floor. "That would be bad luck," the building manager said.http://cbs4.com/local/child.fall.apartment.2.1732742.html

Oh my word, I would have been scared shitless had it been my little one. Glad he made it, and didn't splatter all across the pavement. Oh geezus the thought of it makes me cringe

Boy In Good Condition After Falling At Miami Condo
MIAMI (CBS4) ― Four-year-old Joey Williams is in good condition and could be released as early as Saturday just 24 hours after falling from the 17th floor balcony of a Biscayne Bay-front apartment complex. Joey fell all the way to the 10th floor pool level, but thanks to a palm tree and a thin strip of dirt-filled planter, he survived.
