Well, after Bill gates appearance on the Today Show, this story has been making the rounds on all the tech sites. He was there to show of the Microsoft Surface (http://www.microsoft.com/surface/). Basically an interactive table. I am not using the term basically to trivilaize the product, as it is pretty cool. I would go on to explain what it can do, but watch the video for yourself.

Now, if this table can do all of these things reliably, how much would you be willing to pay?
If you want to check out more, hit the Surface Website (http://www.microsoft.com/surface/).

I don't see the point? I understand the ordering system etc...and the mapping, but other than that it's rather useless and is somewhat pointless...just another fancy gadget meant to drain our wallets. Many other devices already have those features, with the exception of painting etc...

I just don't see the point.

You sound exactly like the people who said the same thing about home computers. :)

This is a revolutionary tech swing and it's uses are endless. This really will change the way people handle certain things done by PC's. Especially photo manipulation. Humans have always responded to and seem more keen to physical manipulation and touch.

If the price is right, this thing has so many uses it is quite boggling.

I can see every coffee-table having one of these in 50 years or so. You will able to have multiple channels going at once, and tap one of them for audio. Dad can pull up his newspaper, and the kids will be reasearching and doing homework. Mom will be sending off an email or updating her webpage.

Board games can be played right on the surface. Family photos can be organized and shared, and the table can even record a conversation for laughing at later.

Like Killroy said, the uses for this are countless. Nobody has even realized what this tech will be used for. And that is how tech gets integrated into society. Someone builds a new tool, and then the masses show the producers what they want to do with it.

One app I can see being huge is for CAD designing. With a proper pen device, you could get a few engineers or architects pouring over one design in Autocad and developing together. Don't forget, as amazing as this tech looks, it is version 1.0. In future versions, that paintbrush will have every single bristle registered.

Shit like this makes me want to live for at least 500 years. I feel so jealous for the future generations that will just be born with this kind of crap already waiting on them.

I could see this being used in business settings for customer consultations and the like.

 You're probably right...but...I can use a typewriter. The Internet is just an added feature that isn't needed. :p

True...but you don't need it.

Alot of people are trivializing this. I think we will begin seeing it everywhere in about a decade (or less depending on the price). It'll be common in homes in 15 years.

The majority of people trivializing this are Microsoft haters and Apple fanboys. It is typical. They HATE when Microsoft does things like this.

It pains them when Microsoft does something revolutionary. haha

This is definitely going to appeal to the people that have those coffee tables that have a glass layer that you can place pictures and other things other. It will be awesome in restaurants. I can see all kinds of great things coming from this.
