Mark Benson Just Keeps Drinking and Driving

WI - On Wednesday, former physician Mark M. Benson, 55, was in court, where he pled guilty to a 2007 drunken driving conviction, his third. He was ordered to not drive and install an interlock ignition device requires that a driver blow into an instrument that measures alcohol in the breath.

Friday, Benson was arrested on suspicion of operating while under the influence in connection with a crash that killed pregnant Jennifer Bukosky, 39, and her daughter Courtney, 10.

Benson was driving the Cadillac Escalade that rear-ended the Honda Accord being driven by Bukosky shortly after 3:30 p.m. Friday. Bukosky's vehicle was stopped for a traffic light when it was struck by the sport-utility vehicle.

Bukosky was pronounced dead at the scene. Her daughter Courtney died Saturday from her injuries. Bukosky's son, Zachary Bella, 12, was released from a hospital Friday after being treated for his injuries. Another girl in Bukosky's car, whose identity has not been released, remained hospitalized.

In the 2007 case, Benson was charged with OWI-third offense after police stopped his vehicle after a caller reported that Benson's vehicle had struck multiple poles and reflectors on I-94 before exiting.

Benson admitted he was involved in an accident, but continued to drive. He told the officer that he had several beers for lunch but believed he was fine.

Benson once told a judge he did not take the offense of drinking and driving lightly.

Well which one IS it?? Don't drive or blow into the breathalyzer before you drive?

These people with multiple drunk driving convictions should be put the fuck away. It's obvious that most really don't fuckin care about getting behind the wheel while blitzed UNTIL someone gets hurt/killed. As far as the ignition lock goes, I had a friend who had been convicted of drunk driving 4 times and had to have one installed on her car. What does she do? Drive another car. So....those are pretty much pointless.

WAUKESHA, Wis. -- A former doctor was charged Monday afternoon in the death of a pregnant mother and her 10-year-old daughter.

Mark Benson, 55, was charged with three counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.

Police said he was on prescription drugs when his sport utility vehicle slammed into the back of Jennifer Bukosky's Honda Friday afternoon.

Prosecutors said Benson had taken five painkillers and five anti-anxiety drugs before the crash.

Bukosky and her unborn daughter died at the scene. Her 10-year-old daugher, Courtney, died later at a hospital. Two other children were injured.

Benson was once a successful orthopedic surgeon, but Monday he walked into court a three-time drunken driver stripped of his medical license, 12 New reporter Colleen Henry said.

Asshole has a history with prescription drugs, drinking and driving. Are the courts shaking their heads now, wishing they had done something about this prick BEFORE a pregnant mother and her child had to die?

Something should have been done about this guy a long time ago. Then this mother and children would still be alive. WTF was this guy thinking! Taking all that shit and getting behind the wheel of a vehicle? I hope they never let him out of prison. Taking his license away I bet wouldn't do any good. He looks like the kind that would go ahead and drive without one.

This is a local story to me and it is absolutely heart-wrenching.

Stupid ass drunk drivers here are coddled. Rarely is their license taken away and even more rare is jail time.

Lots of people are rightfully upset that Mac Davis a Waukesha County judge lowered Mark Bensons bond from the 1million dollars it had previously been set at to 500 thousand, and not surprisingly today less than 24hours after this stupid decision, he walked out of the Waukesha County Jail:

One day after a judge lowered his bail, $500,000 was posted and former physician Mark M. Benson was released from the Waukesha County Jail this afternoon.
Waukesha County Sheriff's Detective Steve Pederson said the money had been posted.
Bail had been set at $1million after Benson was charged in the April 25 crash that killed a popular Oconomowoc educator, her unborn child and her 10-year-old daughter.
Waukesha County Circuit Judge J. Mac Davis reduced the bail after Benson's attorney filed a motion seeking to modify it. Davis said $500,000 remained a substantial sum to ensure Benson would show up for court proceedings if he were released.
Now that he is released, Benson is prohibited from possessing or consuming alcohol or drugs and from having contact with the family of the victims. Any prescriptions must be filled at a single pharmacy and the drugs taken as directed by a physician. Another condition of his release includes limiting his travel to adjacent counties.
Benson, 56, is charged with two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle involving an unborn child and injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle, all of which are felonies, and misdemeanor charges of operating while intoxicated and causing injury and operating after revocation of his license.
Benson is accused in the crash that killed Jennifer Bukosky, 39, who was pregnant, and her daughter Courtney Bella. Two other children were injured.
Prosecutors said Benson had a significant level of the sleep aid Ambien in his system, as well as Xanax, which is used to treat anxiety, and oxycodone, a painkiller, when the crash occurred at a traffic signal in the northbound lane of Highway 67 at Pabst Road in Oconomowoc.

I so completely agree.....The bond conditions are a joke....what they really SHOULD say is DON'T get CAUGHT:

Possessing or using alcohol,

Contacting the victims family,

or filling prescriptions,

The guy is a Doctor for fucks sakes, he can write his own prescriptions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
