A year or so ago I was researching a case I was interested in and found this site. I bookmarked it to come back later and promptly forgot about it. I rediscovered it a couple of months ago and haven't left since!
My mom got me into true crime with "In Cold Blood" and "Fatal Vision"... ever since then it's been a secret passion that only those closest to me are aware of. I've even stooped to reading detective mags when in need of a fix!! (Thank god for the Internet as I haven't seen one of those in years.)
I am 50 and proudly married to a great guy who will be soon doing his second tour in Baghdad. I have 2 kids (twins 24) of my own and 4 step kids (25-31 and wonderful NOW). All in either teaching or law enforcement professions. We have 7 grandkids with room for plenty more. I am used to a crowd - My husband has 9 siblings and I have 17 (yes!! SEVENTEEN - a mixture of real, half, and step but we are ALL close) A family gathering of less than 100 is odd.
Despite living in one of the safest states (ND), my family and I have been touched by many of the same crimes I read about here. My sister was raped at 10, another was murdered by her boyfriend, a grandchild was molested by her mom's penis, and my daughter's best friend was brutally murdered by a psycho.
Maybe this site and my obsession helps me (all of us?) to somehow come to terms with the limits of what is happening? I don't care! I also have great fun mouthing off and love to see what you guys come up with next.
I'm gonna just pull up a chair and sit around here somewhere... I would sit on the couch but I've heard too many stories about it...
