DES MOINES — A 3-year-old boy who was jumping on a bed was hospitalized after he bounced out a window and fell three stories, police said.
Austin Klayon was jumping on his bed near the window of his family’s apartment in the 1600 block of Hull Avenue Wednesday when the accident happened, Des Moines Police Officer Martin Seibert said.
Seibert said Austin “bounced right out through the screen window.” He landed in an area with grass and dirt.
“He was very, very fortunate,” Seibert said.
“The child got back to his feet and he was crying,” Seibert said. “He was conscious and breathing and replying to questions.”
“It was miraculous that he was able to get up,” Seibert said.
Seibert said the child’s mother was home at the time and ran to the boy. The father returned home shortly thereafter.
Austin was in fair condition Wednesday at a Des Moines hospital.

Darn kids, lmao. This was once one of my biggest fears, as my kids were kangaroos also. They would jump on the bed while signing the Monkey jumping of the bed song. But I always would get so scared when they did that. Never did any of them fall out a window, or get injured in any way...but still scary. Maybe the fear I had was from seeing my then 2 year old sister jump, and crack her eyebrow in the footboard of the bed. Ouch

This story caught my attention b/c when Heaven was 2.
I was changing Casey and I told her to quit bouncing on her bed.
She just laughed at me and kept going knowing I couldnt get to her from the change table.
2 seconds later she bounced right through a friggen window and landed in laundryroom
and then ended up in emergency room and had stitchs and never jumped on the bed again

When my brother was 2, he was sent a good 10 feet when our horse Jughead threw him off.
Derrick landed on his butt, laughed, and said "Again, again!"
