How weird is this....

It appears that a woman was found floating in Lake Michigan on Friday. They say she was fully clothed and even had her purse with her. From the article, it appears that she was still somewhat alive, when they pulled her out.

How old was she? Did she just get disoriented and fall in? I guess right now I just have too many questions so I will wait until they get answers.
Thanks!!!

Why would she hold on to her purse if it had nothing identifiable in it. I mean a cell phone, credit cards anything. It just doesn't make sense to me.

People fall into the lake all the time. It happens quite often that someone will be out on a pier and a large wave will knock them into water.

True and it was quite windy here yesterday. Hence the name "the Windy City".

I swear theres at least 3 people every summer that drown after falling off a pier. And thats just along my area of the lakeshore. It's their own fault for going out there in the first place.

It was VERY windy in Chicago yesterday. That bad mean nasty wind grabbed my umbrella off my patio table and shattered the glass top. I had only had it 4 days. :(

That's why my umbrella is still in storage. Wait til after about mid May to put it out. At least the winds aren't quite as bad.

I dunno, Totemic, if you leave the hole in your patio table unprotected for too long, you might get a visit from the Patio Furniture Fucker Fairy. You might go outside one morning to find that your table has been violated, and your neighbor has video of the patio porn to give the cops! :D

You have to wonder what goes so wrong in these peoples lives that make them so desperate that death seems the only way out for them.

Suicide by drowning makes no sense to me with or without a purse. Seriously I would rather swallow a bottle of pills and lay down rather than freeze my ass off trying to drown myself. I think it would take me a very long time to actually drown. I am a good swimmer and I know my instinct to tread water would take over. I would have to swim so far out that once I got too tired to tread water I had no strength left to swim to shore! :(

A relative of mine tried to kill herself by drowning. She can't swim. She was pretty irked, because try as she might, she floated.

Thats what I mean. Shit thats not an easy way to go man. Maybe it was only an attempt but help didn't come soon enough? Suicide methods are an interesting study. I wrote my thesis many moons ago about the various methods and the differences in methods used by males vs females. Drowning isn't very popular with either sex actually.
