A 50-year-old man who was having sex with a girl since she was 12 also impregnated the victim, police said Monday.
Willie James Martin was charged with unlawful sexual activity with a certain minor and lewd and lascivious molestation of a person 12 to 16 years of age, both first-degree felonies. He was arrested Friday and is at the Volusia County Branch jail with no bail.
The unidentified 14-year-old girl gave birth to a boy in June 2009, according to the arrest report. It's not clear where the baby and his mother are because the girl was removed from her mother's home before she gave birth, the report says.
The teen told an investigator from the Children's Advocacy Center that the suspect began fondling her when she was 12 and that later progressed to intercourse.
Investigators were called about the sexual abuse last May when a friend of the teenager's mother informed the authorities of the victim's pregnancy, police said.
That same friend had, initially, approached the youngster's mother and told her that she saw Martin and the victim kiss on the mouth. However, she said the girl's mother took the whole thing as a joke, police said.
Finally, after several allegations floated around concerning Martin and the teen, a pastor told the girl's mother to take the child to the doctor for a pregnancy test, police said.
When the investigator from the Child Advocacy Center interviewed the victim, she was already eight months pregnant, the report says. The girl was taken from her mother's house just days before the baby's birth.
When the teen was asked if she knew why that was being done, the girl replied, "Because her (my mother's) boyfriend raped me," the report says.

Investigators said Martin lived with the victim and her mother in Daytona Beach and began molesting her, then raping her while her mother was at work.
