EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah - Leslie Erickson, 48, is facing three counts of child abuse charges after taking her five-year-old girl to the hospital in critical condition. Erickson and her husband took their daughter to get medical help . They told police she fell and hit her head, but doctors at the hospital disagreed. They believe the child suffered blunt force trauma and showed signs of strangulation.

Police say two other children in the home were recently injured and Erickson has been charged with child abuse involving those injuries as well.

An Eagle Mountain husband and wife pleaded not guilty Tuesday to abusing three children in their care.

. . . During Tuesday's hearing Judge Steven Hansen scheduled a three-week trial for the couple beginning in August.

While Leslie Erickson reportedly claimed the girl tripped on a rug and hit her head on the bathroom floor, doctors told investigators the girl's injuries were caused by a force equal to an unrestrained child hitting her head on a windshield in a car accident. She also allegedly had injuries consistent with strangulation and injuries in various stages of healing from "head to toe."

According to police, both Erickson and her husband withheld information or gave false statements to doctors when asked how long the girl was without oxygen.

But attorney Michael Langford said Tuesday that Erickson was pleased to be moving forward with the case.

"She's looking forward to getting her day in court," Langford said. "She's a wonderful mother."

The Ericksons will both be sentenced on Oct. 4. Leslie faces a possible one- to 15-year sentence in prison for her second-degree felony conviction, as well as up to a year in jail for each misdemeanor. Gary also could receive a year in jail for each of his misdemeanor convictions. Thomas said that prosecutors have not made any agreements with the couple regarding sentencing recommendations.

All People do not adopt or take children in to foster because they just are tickled pink about them...they adopt and/or foster them for money. Services....allotments..entitlements....All those adopted kids...yet they look a hot mess! Big red flag. Why the Departments handling adoption didn't see "devil" in their face, check their financials and see they needed help, or why they allow so many adoptions to the same people....common fucking sense. This bitch is not Marry Poppins, she looks like an ugly witch from hell, not a child lover! Some people can't hide their evil and this bitch is one of them. Another flag is much older couples "old school" couples ---wanting to adopt. How many older couples do you know wanna stay raising young children rather than retire? Horseshit. You're basing your opinion on the stories we see here...which is just a tiny fraction of the thousands of children that are adopted every day by loving families.

I have friends who were adopted and they had the best families possible. My niece is adopted and no one in the world could love her more than her parents do.

My aunt has been fostering and adopting for over 20 years and in that time she has adopted over 15 kids (not all at the same time) and every single one of them will tell you that she and my uncle gave them the family they longed for. They're in their 50's and they still dedicate theirs lives to raising the children that nobody else wanted.

Oh and by the way, adopting isn't like fostering. Once you adopt you don't get any money from the state. My best friend adopted his daughter and the only benefit he gets is free access to state parks. whoopty fucking doo.
