S.C. man charged with child neglect

Police say a South Charleston man previously accused of neglecting his children has been charged again after allegedly leaving a toddler alone in a vehicle for more than an hour while his other child wandered away at the Trace Fork shopping center.
South Charleston Cpl. P.C. Rader said Mark Anthony Lewis, 24, of Kimberly Road let his son, 3, out of his sight Wednesday afternoon while at the Marshall's department store at the Trace Fork shopping plaza, according to a complaint filed in Kanawha Magistrate Court.
The boy wandered into the parking lot by himself, where he was unsupervised for 10 to 15 minutes, police said.
Rader found Lewis with the boy at Dick's Sporting Goods. He saw that the child had pulled two white tablets, later identified as Lortabs, from his father's coat pocket, the complaint said.
The officer then learned Lewis had left his other child, a 2-year-old boy, unsupervised, unsecured and without proper clothing for the weather - noted as being cloudy with temperatures in the low 30s - in a vehicle for more than an hour "while dealing with the situation involving... his 3-year-old son," according to the complaint.
A warrant for Lewis' arrest issued Wednesday charges him with three counts of child neglect creating the risk of injury.
Lewis was previously charged with child neglect resulting in injury after his 19-month-old son fell out of a second story window while he and his wife played video games in another part of the house.
Authorities are still investigating.
