ANDERSON, Ind. — An 18-year-old man was arrested Friday after he admitted having sex with a 12-year-old girl, according to a police report.
Brian D. Carpenter, of the 1300 block of Ohio Avenue, was charged with Class B felony child molestation and is being held at Madison County Jail on a $40,000 bond.
According to the police report, the victim told her parents that she had been forcibly raped on Feb. 6 when she spent the night at her stepfather’s house in the 1400 block of Pearl Street.
The parents informed the girl’s case worker at the Department of Child Services, Brad Hoover. The police report said the victim told Hoover she went downstairs to use the restroom at about 3 a.m. She said Carpenter entered the bathroom, ripped off her clothes, forced her to have sex and then told her not to tell anyone.
“He (the case worker) described her as being ‘low functioning,’ but he believed the events as she told them had actually occurred,” the police report said.
During a first interview, Carpenter initially denied the girl’s allegations, the report said. He did admit during that interview that “she had been coming on to him and the (stepfather’s) children,” ages 12 and 13.
During a second interview, Carpenter admitted he had sex with the girl.
“He stated that she initiated it,” the report said.First, he told police that the girl took her own clothes off and he’d only groped her, the report said.
He then admitted that he had removed his pants and put on a condom, the report continued, but insisted that there was only brief genital contact.
“He stated he did not climax,” the report said.
