Question about blogs

How come I can read some but not others? I get the don't have permission or it could be disabled message when I try to read some of them.

Some people lock their blogs so that they are viewable by "Friends" only.

Keep in mind that this is probably not directed at you, but more probably just stopping casual observers and stalkers from reading their posts. Send them a friend request and I'm sure most if not all will add you so you can read their stuff.

I’m having a problem with my blog. I posted a new entry and saved it as draft because I was trying to figure out how to make this entry only not private like my other one. Now I have the entry there, but I can’t post it. Does this make any sense?
I was also wondering how to post a you tube video in a blog. I just copy and paste the shared link in a regular entry and have no problem, but it doesn’t work like that in the blog. Any help with either of these issues would be much appreciated.

If you want a blog to be private, make sure the option "Restrict entry viewing to Contacts and Blog Moderators" is checked on it. Uncheck it to allow everyone.

Scroll down BELOW the Post Now/Preview/Save Draft buttons to see it in "Additional Options". (or similar buttons on editing draft/posted blogs... you may have to click "Advanced" or Preview" if they are not there.)

Adding a YouTube video is the same as anywhere else in the forum. Make sure you include ONLY the URL with "watch?v=" and the portion of the video ID up to the first "&". Do not include the "&" and anything after it.

Example:
http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=XXXXXXXXXXX&feature=player_embedded (not the part in red!)

How do I post the blog now that is listed in drafts, I’ve tried selecting it and approving it, but it won’t post.
And I tried the youtube video the same way.
Maybe I should give up blogging?

To publish a draft, go into edit mode by clicking on the http://www.dreamindemon.com/forums/images/misc/blog/edit.gif on the blog entry.
If there are no "Additional Options" presented below the buttons, click on "Go Advanced".
Scroll down to "Additional Options"and make sure the setting for "Publish Status:" is "Publish Now"
Click "Save Changes"

If you have a valid YouTube URL, the system will embed it automatically.
Valid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxOYuY6gaNY
Not Valid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxOYuY6gaNY&feature=player_embedded
Not Valid:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxOYuY6gaNY&feature=popt00us01

In "Additional Options", make sure "Automatically parse links in text" and "Automatically embed media" are CHECKED. They are checked by default so usually do not need any action.

Thanks DV. I finally got it posted but it still says private blog on the side. I made sure the "Restrict entry viewing to Contacts and Blog Moderators" was not checked. Can everyone see it now?
Next I’ll work on the YouTube, I’m not very computer literate so I need to take this one step at a time. Thanks for your help, and patience with my dumb ass.

When I check the settings for the blog, you have it set so it should be public. Whether or not it is, I can't tell because Mods can see it no matter what.

The only other thing I can see is that you have it restricted as the default. Try changing that and in the future only restricting those you want closed. That's my last guess.
