View Full Version : Family Boarded Bus on the Way to California, Now Missing

IL – Police are seeking help in finding a family of 5 who got on a bus to California but have not been heard from in 12 days. No foul play is suspected at this time.

Police received a report Saturday that a family traveling across the country had not reached their destination as expected. They were last seen the April 3 at the Greyhound Bus terminal in Champaign, where they bought tickets to California.

Investigators have been in contact with family in California and police in Los Angeles and Denver. So far, they have not been able to locate the family and the family has not yet contacted acquaintances in California. The bus tickets to California have not been used for refund.

The family was last heard from on April 4 through a call from Denver, on a borrowed cell phone. The family does not have a cell phone of their own.

Catoya Williams, 27, is a black female, 5 feet 2 inches tall, 150 pounds; she sometimes wears glasses. Nathanial Brooks, 45, is a black male, 5 feet tall, 160 pounds. Khalleel Hunt, 9, is a black male, 4 feet 6 inches tall, 70 pounds. Shaniya McKinney, 6, is a black female, 3 feet 11 inches tall, 55 pounds. Mark Barber Jr., 4, is a black male, who is the appropriate height and weight for a child his age.

Urbana police in a release that Catoya Williams, her three children, and her partner, Nathaniel Brooks, were located Thursday.

Police talked to them. They indicated they didn't want their current location made public.
"They are all safe and have not been in any danger since leaving town," Morgan said.
