Skeletal remains discovered on one of the Chandeleur Islands in Louisiana has been identified as missing Ocean Springs police officer Stephen Bond, Chief Lionel Cothern said. Bond, 32, had been missing since May 17, when the 21-foot SeaCraft he was aboard overturned in Dog Keys Pass during a storm about a mile from Horn Island.

Bond and four others -- Ocean Springs reserve Officer Jonathan Navas; Navas' wife, Whitney; Ocean Springs Officer Michael Green; and Green's girlfriend, Becky Welch -- were thrown into the Mississippi Sound when their boat toppled in stormy conditions. All except Bond were rescued after 24 hours of floating in the Gulf of Mexico about 15 miles from where the boat capsized.
