Friday West Virginia State Police identifed the body found in Wirt County last month as that of Christian Seabolt.

In December police said hunters found Seabolt's skeletal remains near the Wirt-Roane County line in Creston.

Family said her body was found about 25 feet off of Groundhog Ridge Road in a pine thicket.

Police said the cause of death is still under investigation and they will probably send her remains to the Smithsonian Institute for further examination.

Seabolt has been listed as missing since August of 2002.

Her father, Jesse Starcher, said he isn't surprised that she was found dead but this discovery has opened a new set of wounds because they don't know how she died

Correct me if I'm wrong but does anyone find that odd?
First I would think a family member wouldn't be that candid with the press.
Second if they were they would elaborate, ie high risk lifestyle (drugs, prostitution) maybe a violent partner.
Maybe it's the way it was written. Just seems weird

She was involved with drugs and was supposedly killed by someone who then ground her up and ate her... Obviously that didn't happen. Or maybe it did.

I always think the long term missing people's families must have to go through the trauma twice. First that person is plucked from your life but when you finally manage to live a little bit more again *BAM* you have to cope with finding out they had been dead all along.

I think he meant he isn't surprised because it's been so long, rather than not being surprised because you'd have expected that outcome from that person's lifestyle.

The consensus on Morgan Harrington seems to be that it was someone who was very familiar with the Albemarle County area where she was found; it seems unlikely that the same person would also be operating out of West Virginia; the two counties are 300 miles apart.

This to ASLAN for his response to the artical about my daughter .Yes I am her father and what is it you find weird about my response to the press? first of all there was nothing candid about what I said. second why is it people always throws this on LIKE YOU said [ drugs,,prostitution,,] .thats a remark that only cedrtain kind of people would make. Third ,my daughter did do some drugs but she was murdered because she had wittnessed a murder and went to the police and and they disclosed this information to the accussed? because this cop she talked yto was as dirty as the killers ,its under investigation as to why the city and state failed to make any effort in retrieving her and done everything in there will to cover up what happened because of there neglegence...and most of all ASLAN..Is what u think is that every young or old person that does some drugs is a reason and a excuse such as YOUR excuse !!!should be murdered ,,first raped and beat for 2 months before they killed her? maybe if you read into the facts a little more u would have seen what was the facts..be careful what you write when it concerns such things like this that has crumbled my family , so u think about all the teenagers that do drugs and go tell their parents that ,,this why they were killed,....SOME PEOPLE.....

If she witnessed a murder is it possible her identity was made available through the police report. Was the person who committed the original murder ever arrested?

Mr. Starcher, I'm very sorry for your loss; I can barely imagine the grief that comes with such a discovery, and I imagine you are still dealing with the pain on a daily basis.

However, I think you are reading too much into ASLAN's words. It was an offhand comment based on a stereotypical set of circumstances. Nobody said your daughter was a junkie or a prostitute, but society has observed that such women are more likely to be victims of homicide than others.

Instead of expressing your anger, why don't you tell us more about Christian? What was she like before she disappeared? What do you do to honor her memory today?

Speculation was afloat regarding two missing females, Jennifer Sears Belt, who has been missing for about two years, and Christian Dawn Starcher Seabolt from Spencer, whose disappearance has been linked to drug traffickers in Roane County.

The body of Christian Dawn Starcher Seabolt was found around the time of the Fred Hill disappearance. The body was found in plain sight in Creston, WV and could have been easily found since it was 30 – 40 feet from a back road that led to Spencer, that is traveled by locals, old fashioned moon shiners – and new found drug smugglers.
