Two Charged in Minneapolis Date and Dupe Scam
Suspects solicited men for dates and robbed them

MINNEAPOLIS – One Minneapolis woman and her accomplice have been charged with multiple counts of robbery and kidnapping for duping men with dates and then robbing them.
There have been reports of several Twin Cities men answering ads for companionship in newspapers or on the web, and then getting robbed.
One victim who didn’t want to be named told us he left his home and went to meet a “lonely” woman in Minneapolis.
Shanita Cannon and her accomplice Carl Townsend answered the door, but wouldn’t let the victim leave. “I got ready to leave and she blocked the entrance. I said, what are you going to do shoot me? She said we're gonna blow your head off.” The victim was robbed but made it out with his life.
