ST. CLOUD, Fla. -- A St. Cloud daycare was under investigation Monday morning after several bite marks showed up on a one-year-old baby.
Carrie Hall says the Hansel and Gretel Preschool called her Friday and told her another child had bitten her daughter, Makayla, three times. But a doctor found up to 15 different bite impressions on the child's face, arms and back.
"One, two bite marks is excusable, but this? This kid had time to chew her up, basically," said Hall, a concerned mother.
The daycare did not return phone calls, but investigators said employees claim several adults were in the room at the time of the incident. The child that did the biting is no longer allowed to attend the daycare.

We had a biter at my daughter's daycare. It wasn't the harmless 'that-kid-pissed-me-off-so-I bit-him' stage tiny kids sometimes go through, but rather the only line of defense the kid had. The daycare workers were so fed up. I suggested they put masks on the biters like the one that had on Hannibal Lector, that way eveyone know who the biters are. For the flight risks, tie them on. That way, everyone knows what that particular child is in for. As for Haniibal, I mean, little biting boy, he eventually stopped but he was brutal and really much too old to be biting anyway (almost FIVE).

So what's the deal with the kids that bite? And what do parents of biters do to deal with them? You can get kicked out of only so many daycares.
"Now, Timmy, if you don't stop biting the other children, Mommy is going to pull all your teeth out, and you'll look just like Grandpa. Do you want that?"

My brother was a biter for a little while...he had a sensory issue with his mouth, so he just didn't go to day care, or anywhere where mum wasn't able to be on top of it all the time until he was out of that behaviour.

Three of my children never had any inclination to bite anyone. The three who did each bit me exactly ONCE. I bit them back. They didn't like it. It stopped. End of problem. :D

i did th same thing with one of mine. just hard enough so they knew it was wrong. mine were way younger than 5 tho. if you can't start to reason with a 5 yr old, you've got problems.

So I'm not the only barbaric bitch on the face of the earth. I am so relieved. That's what my hubby called me when I told him what I had done with one of them. So, I just didn't tell him about the other two....:D

my husband did that with two of our kids, it worked. my grandmother did it with her kids too. It's effective. I don't see anything wrong with showing a kid what harm they are doing.
